Hi again, was catching up on the Adopt a Sailor thread and saw your post that you are going to be headed my way soon. So, do you still have lots of family in the area? I was thinking of putting a Spokane Moms gathering together. How long are you planning to be here, would you like to join us if so? We're not a huge crew, but we're growing. :-) Hope you all had a great time at PIR. Has your nephew classes up and started his "A" school yet? Where at? Well, have fun putting those Luau boxes and cards together. =) Take care!

Hi Stacy! I know you told me your name, but I just couldn't think of it. I guess you will always be "auntnotmom" to me. lol I'm sure your nephew will transition out of the cockiness and into appreciating you more again soon. I think they are just overwhelmed right now. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but I know that my son is terribly busy right now and doesn't have quite as much time to talk to me as he did in the beginning of getting to SC, but at least we get to talk. My son goes to school from 7 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon and then has to study from about 5:30 to 11 pm. And somewhere in between all of that, laundry, ironing, pt, eating, and calling me. :) I know your nephew will realize how lucky he is to have you and I'm sure he does in his heart now. I love the pictures you've added. You will have to post the one of you and him as your ID. You all look good. I'm sorry that your trip home and afterward wasn't simply awesome. You deserve it to be awesome, but I know that sometimes it gets long, especially when we have so many different personalities to deal with along the way. Now, is your nephew's mom your sister? It doesn't matter, I'm just curious. What is he going in for now? Madison is in the NUKE program in SC...very intense. He started school Monday. God bless you and your hero. Keep in touch.

Hello Auntnotmom! This is Gini! I just wanted to see how you were doing and how your trip to Chicago went...especially after I saw you. I hope you had a great weekend. We had a great day with our son and then we were off to the midwest to see more family and then Mt. Rushmore. We put over 4000 miles on our vehicle in that almost 2 weeks. Good times, but the best part is we have been able to talk to Madison almost everyday. It's so awesome. Where is your nephew now, I forget. I also forget your first name, I'm sorry. God bless you and yours. It was so great to meet you. Your nephew is very lucky to have you for an aunt.

Hello,
I will be visiting Chris and Ross again. I have been going once a week... couple of times this week since Chris and his mom don't know anyone here. Ross and his family had his girlfriend and her family. He also had both mom and dad here. Chris and his mom are alone for now... Ross' dad is great support for them and I want to assist where I can.

Hi auntnotmom,

Your nephew is trying to spread his wings right now. And it could just be the moment with PIR and all. But I bet he will come around. Especially once he gets in a unit. My husband was LPO when he was stationed at Oceana and I can tell you from our experience his "KIDS" worked as a team and he did not put up with cockyness with them. We still keep in touch with a number of his "kids". They call us for advise and so on. Give it time and see how it goes. And no matter what he needs to know there will always be someone he can turn to.

Hi auntnotmom, couldn't resist greeting a former Spokanite who loves CD'A! :-) I'm a friend of those two wonderful ladies below me. I've been absent from the Wa/Ore Moms and Molly's Groups over the past month or so, so am catching up. Has your nephew had his PIR yet? Let me know when he's headed for Wa and the Lincoln. You'll find he already has "family" ready and waiting to help him-and you- in any way they can. The Western Wa crew is awesome, but I'm sure you've already figured that out! =) Take care.

Hi, Are you still confused? Maybe it is because there are 2 projects going on.
#1 - This is the designated group(s) for the month. One sailor will sign up on www.anysailor.com for his group. When you send something there HAS to be a name, you can't just send to "any sailor" as it will not be delivered. When we send cards or goodie boxes to the designated sailor, he shares everything with his group. In the past, the mom of the month chooses a group from anysailor.com and has posted their info and address here but this month that site complained to us. So now you have to take the name of the sailor (and this month a Marine) and go to anysailor.com and anymarine.com and request their address. You get the address immediately. Any clearer??

Project #2 - Letters and cards to injured military and families who have recently lost someone in the military.

Hope this helps a little and don't hesitate to send me a post with other questions. Pat

Hi, I'm writing to give you some clear answers about the Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project. Each month one mom takes charge and selects a group of sailors or marines that are deployed and posts the information in the discussions. They have had a theme recently ( I just got involved last month). You decide how you want to participate. You can write letters, cards, post cards, you can send care packages. There is usually a list of items that the group has requested and then there is a list of suggestions in another discussion that come in handy too. It's all about showing them support not just spending money. A lot of people include self addressed cards or post cards, etc. in case anyone wants to respond. You can include your email address and you might get some responses. You should always mention Molly's Adopt a Sailor Project so they know where this is coming from, we are developing quite a reputation. They are working on charitable status so we can get donations. Now, shipping care packages: you can get flat rate boxes from the post office, they have FPO/APO boxes now also. Either way you should get a reduced price for sending a flat rate box to and FPO/APO address. You also need to fill out a customs form when sending to those addresses even if it isn't going out of the country. You can go to USPS.com and order the boxes and forms for free, be sure to get the military ones. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I just thought I'd give you the information in an orderly fashion because I had a hard time understanding it all when I started too! Welcome to the family! I'm a veteran mom since I've had 2 sons in the Navy, one out now and one making it a career.
