A school

If it takes longer, the better it will be for us. We would like to move to the same area (hopefully after his Phase I in A school is passed, he can live with us), so we don't mind if he's still going…

Oh no, I'm not "hurrying", I just would like to know what the real deal is. My husband went in as an E-3, and told me the other day he is a weapons petty officer, and that an officer told him his A s…

I tried to tell him not to believe all the rumors. If he were sent out to the fleet, he would get on the job training for his MOS in lieu of A school. I have a good friend that did it, and liked it A…

The more family members you have, the more it seems to benefit living "on" base here. Hubby and I just got our new address in Forrestal Village- we move in Jan 4. If you are a couple with a child, you could save $ by living off base. A family of 4,…

You may be right- he did say this past weekend that he had the certain uniforms per week and after the 3rd week he could wear civies. (I think) lol. But if he can go ahead and get the packet filled out while he's doing phase I, then we will just wai…

I just wanted to tell you if you do live out in town it's not hard to set up your utilities you just ask the apartment complex who they use and call and set it up with a card. Not hard at all. : )

Wait, wait, wait LOL. That's what we're doing :) It's not a huge deal to live on base, I thought it might be more convenient, since we will have to get a 3 bedroom. I found some nice homes off base, but I don't know where not to live, ya know? Also,…

We need a 3 bedroom, and I figured they would be a little easier to get. He told me he doesn't have to do certain phases because he already had a family, but who knows? He said he was told by an officer, but there seems to not be a cut and dry answe…

My husband has a friend that his family only had to wait 6 weeks because they needed a 3 bedroom, and they seem to have more of those available. I live off base in a one bedroom apartment so I do save BAH, but if you need a bigger apartment, you may…

Hello. Well, I live off base, but my husband's friend's family just moved up, and at first he was told the wait time was about 4 months, but he just got a call last weekend that he can move in this week. So I guess it just depends on how many bedroom…

Just so you know housing is not "ON" base. It's called on base but it's not like the army where it's behind the gates where they work. It's down the road from base and there are a few neighborhoods that consist of on base housing but anyone can driv…

Well that's what I'm so confused about. When I called the housing office, I was told the wait time would be no longer than 4 WEEKS!!!! I will be in GL for his PIR friday, so I guess we will try and go by there and see if we can get some clarificatio…

Yah what the other ladies said. And what heather said if you want to live on base there have been holds! If you do not want to wait I would suggest looking at apartments and that would make the wait WAY less. I live at Eagle Ridge and have referred…

beerflanigin, I'm not sure about the rules when you want to live on base, but if your husband wants to live off base, he has to complete a 'Live Ashore' packet. In order to become a Live Ashore, your husband has to get into Phase 2 liberty after ge…

Idk. How true that is about him not having to phase up because we were married with a family also and he had to phase up.. I never heard of that. Let me know what you find out though! Lol.
Where are you staying for PIR weekend?

Hello there!
Well 1st off when your hubby graduates BC and goes to the NTC side he's gonna need to see his PLR and talk to him about getting you up here. He will have to attend a class about the moving process. He will have to set up an appt. with the housing people so that they can give you the number for the movers in your area. ( They can tell you the wait time for housing bc it goes up and down ) He will then give you that number and you will have to call and set up an appt for the mover to come pack and take your stuff. You need POA to sign off his belongings. (They told me I needed POA over the phone, then the mover said I didn't b/c we're married.. I guess it depends?) Before he can start living with you he will have to get his Live Ashore Packet approved. So the faster he get that done the faster he can start staying off base.. Same goes with getting all his paperwork for moving you up here =)
I hope that all makes sense.. Just comment me if you have any other questions.. Do you have Facebook?? Hope that helps alittle!

And many of the recruiters are well meaning but if they don't know the AECF rate...they don't know as much as the folks in our group...true story!

Yes, do not make any commitments until he graduates and moves over to the other side. He won't start classes real soon but he can get busy on the paperwork to move you and the kids to GL!

Hey beerflanigin, love your photo. Wanted to welcome you to AECF group. First thing you have to learn as a Navy wife is.......the military lives on rumors, you have to know when to believe stuff and when to ignore it...not always easy! I was a Navy wife of an FC for 10 years and now I'm a Navy mom of an FC --- happy to help with any questions that you may have. Also --- double check on that situation about moving you to GL - there are many Navy wives in GL for A school in the AECF group and then they move them to their C school location as well. The ETs and FC program is one of the longest schools in the Navy and you are the only wife that I have heard of that cannot move cause the school is not long enough. It took our son 8 months to finish A school and 8 months to finish C school -------- that was actual school time...no holds.
