Hi everyone! Long time since I posted. My dad has been undergoing treatment for a transplant, and is doing very well. Long road ahead, but he is hanging in there. We got the news yesterday that M has passed MEPS and the NUKE test, and will be leavin…

That would make sense. M took his in July. Heard a rumor about the increase though. Now as for the waiver... I hear they are getting VERY tough on the physicals as well. They need a waiver for M b/c his sternum was about a 1/4 inch to high up. They…

Very interesting! I did not hear about the ASVAB being increased, but my son took it in July and got an 84%, and he said the cut off was lower than a 70% at that time. However, he did mention about 1 out of 4 were rejected during the physical. We ha…

Topaz72: Snoozymom's on target about the MEPs thing. Some like to do the ASVAB on the first day of MEPs, followed by a night at a hotel and the physical the next morning. Some do it separately; all depends upon your area. For my son, he did it durin…

T/Y all. Prayers being lifted for the recruits taking tests...That they may feel God is with them every step of the way.

Got a good chuckle Joni, thanks! I have 3 girls and 2 boys, and they are all different. One wild and crazy boy, one quiet responsible one. One wild and crazy daughter and one that is so quiet she gets marked absent for not saying 'here' during atten…

LOL. Maybe! I talk to my pets too; and they seem to understand and best yet, never talk back in a negative way. Only pet lovers understand that. My extended family that has no pets at all actually dubbed me (affectionately) the crazy cat lady. Can't…

We had an outage on Friday too... several hours worth. We were the 'lucky' ones as some were out for 2 days. Weak tornado went through our town and tossed the out houses into the middle of the pond. Did the hamster thing, gerbil thing... and when th…

Kelly; we had the same issues with the internet going down all the time. Thought the work in the street was doing it, and that was one of the causes... also found the wire to the house was frayed. Since they fixed that and have completed the road wo…

I want to thank everyone for your prayers for my father who was diagnosed (again) with Leukemia. He has decided to try the only option given as a cure (very low cure rate, very risky) and will be admitted to start the bone marrow transplant in a few…

Hi everyone! I was not brave enough to go for another few years of puppyhood... but my kids needed a pick me up (my dad is terminally ill and they are bummed about it) so my friends decided to 'invite' my kids over for a bit so I could have alone ti…

Actually, his recruiter was on the phone constantly trying to rectify the mess. It was those higher up that seemed to be dragging their feet. Story we got was there was a lot of paperwork involved, and those higher up had 'mounds' of things to do, n…

Hey Snoozymom... M went to MEPs initially the last week of July. We were told his waiver would be back by the first week of August. Um, it was not until 3 weeks later that they FINALLY figured what needed to be done, and told us it would take anothe…

Thank you so much! I spent the day with my dad, and his Oncologist is not too hopeful. Basically what it boils down to is quality or quantity. As my friend, an oncology nurse said, let him go home and die with his dignity or let them do it in the ho…

What a gorgeous kitty!
See Pat already sent you pix of Goose Creek. I have my fingers crossed for you and your sailor.
Mine is just leaving here today to return after leave. He starts Prototype, which is the last of the 3 schools for the Nukes.
Keep us updated!

KYra goes in as an MA, master at arms. She leaves 10/26. She is my only girl, so it is emotional. My upcoming senior would be a great NUKE, but he has no interest in the military. He is one of those 1980 scoring SAT kids, like i suspect your son is. This site is a wealth of info. I got on it in February when Kyra signed up. Wonderful resource.

Hi Cameowlot! I didn't realize how close you were. My husband and I visit Tony's Pizza on Rt 94 in Hardyston. He know the owner (mother of the son that was shot). We go up there occasionally. Maybe next time, I'll give you a hollar and let you know when we are planning on going up there again. I love the ride. Budd Lake (Mt Olive) is getting a little too populated. The urban crawl has reached us here.

Our son is going to Goose Creek too after PIR 8/28. I can't remember, are you going to PIR? If so, are you driving or flying? We are driving.

Maybe we will see you there?

Good morning, I saw your post on Nuke moms and sent you 2 pictures of the barracks at Goose Creek. Nuke are divided into 3 groups, MM, EM, and ET. Your recruit will find out which group he is assigned to about the middle of basic training. So welcome new Nuke mom, it is quite a journey!! Pat

Welcome to nuke moms. Your cats are beautiful. I have 3 DSH, have rescued & fostered over 100 cats and bottle fed 3 litters. The most I've had in my house at one time was 26 but usually it's less than 12.
There are 3 blogs on the nuke moms page, just above the discussions that explain nuke school. There are several discussions that may also answer some of your questions. Also, check out this site: squidoo.com/proudnavymom
Depending on how long your son has to wait to start boot camp after he graduates from HS, it would be helpful for him to take chemistry, physics & algebra classes at a community college. Delete

hey cameowlot--
gizzy is a girl,, all are girls except the lab, wyatt. her hair is about the same length other than around her face of course. she definitely has a persian coat, kind of coarse, and little wooly in places. she was tiny as a baby, had her fixed a year ago and she gained lots of weight, now she is still a small cat but she has stout legs too.
my animals are all good, wyatt is the baby(100# +baby) at 2years. peaches our cocker is now 12.

oops, looking up I am sure that there is a way to advane in the O ranks as well. But I don't think "Honor, Courage and Commitment" would be anyless important to you or him.

cameowlot- one suggestion for you and your future sailor is to read the book "Honor, Courage and Committment" It is a bible of sorts for the navy. It will give both of you a taste of how things will work. You make sure that your sailor keeps up with the DEP'er program religiously as that will be a life saver in BC. If given the opportunity to go from E-1 to E-3 by completing simple things in his book he should go for it. It's money in the bank as well as a leg up in the program. Show him that gentle motherly love when and where he will let you. What rate is he trying to go into?

Check out AngieF-WA:MHmom-she has a discussion on honesty in the military and adhd. Also, just honesty in the militaly.
Read the different discussions and if you can't find it we will search for you to the beginning of time or least the beginning of Hoppi aka Angie's time!
Have to sleep my mind is turning mushy
