Thanks!! my son will be heading out the end of Feb first of march to Cal. he wasn't able to take the physical test at great lakes due to being on LLD for stress on his shin. (They thought he had a fractured shin bone) Thank god that wasn't the case.…

Our boys have made it this far and we are all so Proud. This will give us family members a place to keep up with class 281. We can get to know each other a little better before we all meet again, when they all hopefully achive the final prize.

Man Peach... that is a meal now ..whew. Sorry to hear he was so sick . thats awful. Hard to believe our men and women have had so many health issues there. I think he was more sick there(my son) than he ever has been here in a summer.

thank you peach.. yes he said it really burned. And I cant even imagine how bad it hurt. I just wonder how many times he had to do it. We are excited as well to see people.

- My first born. he is leaving the nest right after graduation to fulfill his dream of being a Navy Seal. I am married to a wonderful husband with two more kids at hom. Colton is 14 1/2 and Courtney is 8 1/2. I work at a local elementary school, and love my job. I am also a special ed bus aide. That is my favorite aprt of the day. i am having a real hard time knowing that my son is leaving for the military. Alot of teary nights. But am very proud of him. he is the first child to go since my dad was in many years ago. I will deeply miss him. He is an awsome son.

Train Station by Great Lakes???
I am hoping some of you mom's can help us out. My son's girl friend will be joining us in Great lakes, but not until Friday 4th of September. I believe I have read on here somewhere that there is a train station acrooss the road from Great Lakes or very near by. Does anyone have any idea about this? Amtrack is saying no, so I believe them, but I also remember reading something about a train station close to Great Lakes. Any info is appreciated.

2nd letter
Hello everyone.....
Well am happy to let you all know i did recieve my 2nd letter today> I was so happy. His letter last week was a downer. This week was so different. I was so happy. He said he is doing alot of boot shining, and watch over the floor. Said the food was ok. Not like home. Made me feel good!! he does know a couple of the kids that I mentioned, which is nice. He knows mama I'm coming homes and Richy's mom son. Glad he knows Richy, due to we are planning on hooking up over PIR we… Continue

Has anyone recieved info on what time PIR is on Sep3 for Div 843?? Just curoius. My letter said the date, but no time. Thank you. Amy Michigan moms out there with the same Div #

White Envelopes
I read somewhere on here, that only white envelopes. Why was the reason behind only white? Why do they get a little punishment if someone sent him a colored one? I tries to let all family and friends know only white. I hope they are doing that. Curious

I got the "BOX"
Well it was alittle bit more harder than I expected. When I opened it up, the smelly socks was not what I wanted to smell right off the bat. LOL. I wanted to smell the wonderful colonge smell. But I am happy knowing he is there, safe and I am sure looking totally different by now. Kinda emotional to see my sons stuff and not him. But I will be just fine.

- so sorry to have taken so long to reply - been out with a bad back! How is your son doing? Did he go for Riverines. T tried but was told he couldn't do anything until he is off med hold (although his room mate in the same situation was allowed to apply and got it?). Right now he is waiting for a final clearance to come off med hold and will see what is out there for him since he was told Riverines were full. Says he may end up going undesignated - a bit scary but at the same time he would get to try out different rates and see what he would like. He's pretty down at the moment, the boredom is really getting to him so just praying something comes up for him - keep hearing how so many guys are just on hold waiting to class up or ship out so hopefully at least if he's off med hold they will give him some kind of job to do.
Sorry for the moan, just seems nothing is going right at the moment and I flip between wanting to hug him and make it all "better" and telling him to shape up and deal with it!!!!!!! Just waiting now to hear the results of his meeting with the docs on Friday but he is being pretty uncommunicative at the moment.

- Hello! I am doing good. How are you doing? I am so sure that you are anxious to get to PIR on Sept 3. Seems like Casey just left for BC doesn't it? Now he is going to be a full-fledged Sailor! Enjoy it!!! Allen is loving the Navy and is looking forward to going to Handler/Dog Training School in TX on Nov 1. He was told that he was going to be stationed in Diego Garcia after he is finished with school, but you know the military, that could change at anytime. Write me to let me know how everything goes in GL for PIR. I know you are going to be so PROUD!!! Have a good time & give Casey a hug for me too.

- Thanks caseysmom, he's been on LLD and medical hold for the past 11 or so weeks as it turned out to be a stress fracture. Knew he would be rolled back and began to doubt he could cut it at pre-Buds so he dropped - too much time to think! He had leave this weekend and it was so good to see him face to face. He's got his head back to where it needs to be and is thinking about Riverines. How is your son doing?
