Hey Cathy: Thank you. It is hard when they are gone. We don't hear from Adam any way - but knowing he is out working puts an edge on everything. Hang in there. No, I don't know who the ombudsman is. But check out what an AWESOME job Meg did for me. You can go down my page to her post and click on the 'view thread'. She got a lot of information fo rme.I haven't called Fleat and Family Services yet. Mostly becasue of work, and we dont' have anyone in the hospital at thsi time. Last year was very scarry we had someone in every week for the first six months. Also check ou tthe Ombudsman group. It is VERY interesting.
Dale communicates and that is great. Tell him, I've got him in my prayers too, to be safe and know that he is VERY APPRECIATED!
Yes we got snow yesterday - not too much - this morning will be worse - cold last night and ice. Everything should be fine by ten. I do love it. It is all so beautiful. Have a great day too my friend!

Hey Cathy: How are you?? I think our sailor's are under. I just wanted to check with you and see how you are doing. I've been away for a bit, and today is my day to try to get caught up. I haven't found a letter about the boat yet. I'm still trying. If I find anything out I'll let you know. If you are interested in Bangor, I can help a bit there. The base is beautiful. You can also check it out on line. The base is close to a WalMart, as well as major shopping in Kitsap. In fact when we moved Adam onto base housing we stayed in a place called The Flag Ship Inn. It in on Lake Kitsap, and about 20 minutes from the base. Very nice place - older, but very clean and had chocolate chip cookies - which we LOVED. Any way, let me know how you are doing.

Hi Cathy; Frist I have to say that I do not know much about the Navy. My sailor is not very communicative. Thanks to you, I found out that they assign a sailor to every new sailor. I guess I'm guilty of 'can't talk about it ma', and live with it. I will be excitted to hear what you learn. Here is some information that I have learned. There are at least three other Penn mom's here - two that I know of: Melinda Q and Sherry James (their icons are on my page). I would invite you to join the Washington/Oregon moms. They are an AWESOME group. There is also a spot for Bangor to sign in I think. I'll keep digging for you! Have a grea day!

Wow Cathy! This site is amazing. Did you grow up in Truckee? It is a very neat place. My favorite coffee shop is there. I don't think it was there when you were there - it is realitvely new; it is called Wild Cherries next to the fire department. This is very cool. Okay the Penn. My son, Adam is one of the Nukes. I think they have more than one assigned to a boat. But I don't know that either. He has been on the Penn for four years; in the Navy for six. They will go under water any day pretty soon. We don't hear from him much. He just got done with a 36 hur shift. Unfortunately, I don't know much - but am greatful to have somebody from 'home' to share news. Welcome! This is one of the very best places to be. The people here are the BEST ever. I have only experienced my church family, but the Navy family is topping my list. I will do my best to help you. My angel blessings, Susan

oops hit the wrong button. I was saying thankyou for taking the time to give me so much great information. The best thing you could have told me, you did, being able to talk to him. I miss him so much since he has been in BC. I never dreamed I would ache like I have since he has been away. I suppose I better get used to it huh? The worst part for me through this is not being able to speak w/ him on a regular basis. I am kind of used to him going away for weeks at a time on church trips and activities w/ the school, spring breaks and so own but I could talk to him. Again thanks a million and best wishes for your son and you and your family too.

Cathy thanks for getting back w/ me. I kinda figured that what I was reading was a little far fetched that is why I was asking. How is their leave time while in school and also their communicating w/ home there. I can not stand not knowing how my son is doing. I think they could at least be able to call on Sundays afte rall isn't that their day off so to speak.

Hi Cathy, My son will leave for Groton CT after BC. His graduation is set for Jan 15. I was wondering if you could fill me in on sub school I do not have a clue. I have read info on the internet and it sounds awful. I am hoping that it won't be as bad as it sounds. I think they need some type of relief right after BC and from what I read it is worse!. Hope to hear from you soon and many congrats for you and your son. After all he wouldn't have made it w/out you.

Hello Cathy, I have a son, also, that will graduate on the 5th from BESS. Are you attending the graduation? I am looking for someone to take a picture of our son. He is 18, tall and blond, (he lost 28 pounds at Great Lakes.) His name is Andy. He did not make it home for Thanksgiving and we are trying to afford the cost to fly him home after Christmas, for a while. Our other son just returned from deployment in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. He is on a big, helicopter ship.
