Hi Charisse, I heard about your predicament with the nonrefundable tickets. What you can do is call te airline and explain to them what is going on. They should be able to keep your tickets open untl you need them. I do this for my bosses all the time when they cancel a trip and we never purchase refundable tickets. Don't give up. If the first person you talk to won't do it ask to talk to their supervisor.

Dear Rocky:

Talked to your mother and Uncle Randy today and was sad to hear you have had a run in with something hard. I hope the hip is getting better.

You know I went through boot camp twice, once as a Reservist, and then when I got out of the reserves, I went to boot camp again. While I was there, the second time, I got pneumonia, Bronchial Pneumonia to be exact, high fever, everything. My company commander thought I was trying to pull something and told me I had better be sick, or I would be sick when I got back. Well I was sick, 105 temp, spent 2 weeks in Sick Bay. I didn’t get to graduate with my class.

I remember while I was in sick bay, I would go over to an empty ward and lay on an empty bunk and watch the people go by out side the fence. It was like I was in Jail. Sick and in jail, kind’a depressing. I’m not that religious but I did talk to a chaplain. I don’t know if it did me any good, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

But, I did find out, after boot camp, that there is life after boot camp, and looking back on my entire 4 years, I am sorry I didn’t stay in for 20, I could have retired at 38, kinda young to be getting a retirement check every month, but it would sure come in handy in my old age.

Hang in there I am so proud of you, and your sister. I know you will make this a positive experience. I tell every one that you are in the Navy, and I’m looking for a bumper sticker so I can tell the world.

We love you and look forward to seeing you. Please send photos.

Love

Sir and Grandma Sharon
