We are so glad that you are here! This is a great place to meet others that know exactly how you feel!
We have something for everyone here groups from boot camp moms to overseas moms and moms that like to scrap book. We have meet and greets to events that the moms set up to meet each other and have dinner or an outing. There are groups to help you with each and every step of this wonderful adventure that our children have chosen called the US Navy.
Please tell us about your sailor and what they have chosen to do in the navy and ohh yeah we LOVE pictures of everyone !!
Please let me know if you have any questions I can help you with.
How are you doing today? This Navy for moms is such a blessing.
Don't panic, just enjoy your time with your son, you still have time. Plan a nice farewell dinner/party for him, before he leaves for Boot Camp.
The info I write, it's all all good stuff, what to expect. Moms are so nervous about Boot Camp. I was too.
Boot Camp isn't as horrible as us moms picture it. It does take a few weeks for the recruits to get into the rountine of Boot Camp and over being homesick.
Once they get adjusted to the rountine, they do like Boot Camp, beleive it or not.
It's the moms having nervous breakdowns! HAHA!
Okay, for starters, when your son leaves, he will call you, maybe the next day, to let you know he arrived safely at Great Lakes. Now you need patience!
After one week, you'll recieve the box with his civilian clothes in it.
The second week, the form letter, on the back is two sentences from your son.
Around the third week is your first long letter from him. The return address on this envelope is the one you write to your son.
And usualy, the following weekend, he may even call you up.
Week four is the gradaution package.
SO that is what to expect! HAHA! Boot Camp is hard on the moms, there's no communication for three weeks. Once your son graduates, he has his freedom again, and can call you when he wants to.
Best thing for you is to stay in contact with other Navy moms. I'm always around as well. Together we'll help you through Boot Camp.....we haven't lost a mom yet!! HAHA!
Please don't hgestitate to write.
Take care and God bless,
Barbara
P.S. I'm also an RN, come join our group, Navy Nurse Mom's.
