Hi moms! I am approaching my first deployment as a mom soon. I, like all of you, am worried - worried doesn't even express our emotions does it? Well, despite that, I am one of the lucky ones. My son, Drew, will be home for the holidays. He was depl…

Yes, God Bless all our veteran's and active soldiers - especially those in harm's way. But I also want to thank all you moms. You have raised exceptional young men and women....people who realize that there is a bigger picture.....people who choose…

Hi Jay's mom. My mother always wrapped banana bread in plastic wrap first, then in aluminum foil. Typically plastic containers works really well too - you would need to cut it up (makes it easier to share) and then store it neatly in the container.…

LeAnn - so sorry for your loss, but I guess there are blessings. Having all three of your military children home is a blessing, even if it is coupled with loss. Three children who have chosen to serve says a lot about your family. Thank you to all o…

Jay's mom - absolutely send your son the goodies. They actually last longer than we think if packed well...and trust me, I've heard my son and other moms talk about how the goodies were devoured dried out, burnt, soggy, whatever form. It smells and…

There must be something special about banana bread and Seabees. Banana bread is also one of my son's favorites. When I sent him a loaf a few months ago, he and his roommate devoured it as well. I'll have to plan on sending him a few loaves periodica…

Doug's mom, can you tell me what battalion your son is with? I think our sons could be in the same battalion. I've still got to check out the hero bracelets. It sounds like a great idea. I know my family would wear them for Andrew.

Joanne, it would be great to talk deployment. I wish your daughter all the best and safe, quick returns. I pray for all our service members, especially those serving abroad. My son is due to deploy in January. He leads EO's and I guess they leave a little earlier and stay a little later - lucky us! Anyway, it's been difficult not seeing him for the last year, but we are hoping he will get leave before he deploys. Can you tell me what your daughter does, and what battalion she is attached to? (Not sure if that's okay or restricted info.) I've got to learn the do's and don'ts of this.
