It's been a year, but when Dusty left for C school he checked his seabags thru (he had 2). It was most interesting because he had locks on them. He was in dress blues for the trip. The TSA luggage checkers had to shake his hand and did not make him…

The word is usually most Corpsmen will do FMTB especially if they are male, but the needs of the Navy will determine where your sailor goes. Mine went to San Diego to train as a surgery tech. He is now in Japan for 2 years.

I saw somewhere the storm has been downgraded and is now just a big wind and rain storm. Growing up in Oregon Dusty is used to rain.

When our box arrived we took it up to Dusty's old room to open it. We placed it on the floor and put the clothes, cell phone etc on the floor. the funny part was the dog. She came sniffed and rubbed her nose and rolled around in the clothes.

This is pretty cool - my husband was a medic in Vietnam. He retired about seven years ago - ended up being a fire chief, emt - - When you talk w/Dusty give him my best and tell him I think he is AWESOME! Did you read the post about the Corpsman on the plane back to WA - where they asked for help? Very cool article. I'll see where it is posted and get back to you. Our nephew was in the Army with the same job (don't know what they call it). He was in Afganastan - now is at UCLA studying to be a nurse or doctor.
I have read about Portland, and the roses - always wanted to check it out.
We have snow this am - about an inch w/popcorn snow (ice) on top. Could make driving icky. Have a great day!

Hi Dusty's Mom: So, what does Dusty do? Our sailor is a Nuke. Where in Oregon are you? I'll bet it is a lot diffeent from Auburn. You probably wouldn't recognize Auburn. Sounds like it was a while since you were there. We have gone to Oregone for a car trip - it was very beautiful and nice.

Hi! So happy to her that Dusty graduated from Navy Corps School. Yeah!!! I was a Navy Corpsman, too! So what C school? Did I read surgical tech, somwhere along the lines? Will that school be in Ca? Jake is in IC school, in GL, and his school will continue thru Aug, 09. Then, he's hoping for a C school in San Diego. Jake will be home for the holidays, for two weeks. Then, back to school, in GL. You must miss Dusty, and I'm sure that it was great having him home for Thanksgiving! Happy Holidays to you!

Surgery Tech sounds GREAT. Best wishes to your son as he progresses to 'C' School out west!

My son graduated 'A' School Corpsmen and is presently flying (actually in the air right now) to Yorktown, Virginian to study to become an Optician Tech.

Isn't it wonderful that the Navy is paying and training our kids to learn a valuable skills that will make them both so much more marketable in the job market later?
