FYI, the USN calls the SHIPS, not boats! Depends on the rate you go if you go on a Ship right away. Unless you're talking about submarines. ;~)

My 2 cents, if you are going to post you don't think you are ready to join than DON'T join! What does your husband do in the USN?

Great answers Anti M! Something for the OP to think about is are you ready to leave for 6 months, thinking your hubby will be home than find out 4 months into your deployment that your hubby is getting deployed also. So just when you are going to b…

I would not join just to get college paid for. And there is zero guarantee you can get into an officer program from the enlisted side. You need to speak with a recruiter, who will steer you toward enlisted programs. you would also need to speak with…

Boot Camp is 8 weeks (average, sometimes 7½, sometimes 8½). A school will depend on what your'e going to do, job-wise. It could last several months to over a year. What will happen to your daughter while you're gone? You wouldn't be able to have her…

My advice? Finish school first. By that time your daughter will be older. There is no guarantee or program that I know of that will guarantee that if you enlist you'll later be automatically accepted into an officer program. I''m sure someone with…

My husband has convinced me to join the navy. We havent talked to a recruiter or anything yet. I am still in college and I have 2 years left. I'd like to join as a nurse officer. Just wondering if there were any enlisted opportunities so that I coul…

Oh, how important you are to this site!! Please stay. You have so much info that I, as a Mother can't give. Your experience comes from an entirely different place than mine. But, I would love to talk with you. Please contact me anytime, Honey. How Blessed you are to be a Mom and what a wonderful heart you must have to pursue nursing. Did you always want to be a nurse or was this something you learned about yourself as an adult?
Love and Prayers,
Beverly

I am very glad you aren't leaving the site! There are plenty of new wives out there who are going to need your insight about the navy life. This website should be a place where you can learn without fear of attack, a place that is encouraging and uplifting, and a place where you can share with others the experiences you've had that may help them in their time of need. I hope you reach a decision that will benefit your whole family. Enjoy your 2 yr old, they grow up fast. And on behalf of my husband and I please thank your husband for serving. Thank yourself while you are at it because as a retired Air Force wife, I very well know that you are serving as well by keeping the homefront fires burning. Aloha! Cindi

Ebruno,
I just saw your post and replies to your post and I truly hope you aren't giving up on this website. There was nothing wrong with your question and you definitely shouldn't be sorry for asking for input. I feel certain if the post had been kept open you would have had some different responses more to your liking. Good luck to you and whatever decision you make! Aloha!
