melissa, the card your son is issued on the ship can be used out in town also. all he has to do is go to the machine or disbursing and transfer money from the chip to strip.

he needs to be reffered by his recruiter to an officer recruiter but only if he meets their requirements. they look at his gpa, major and a couple other things. once he is on active duty, he can apply for several officer programs we have if he doesn…

Hi gm.My son has been in for a year now.when he first went in I had a pretty tough time with it but he has taught me so much and we have both grown from the experience.He is a very proud sailor and takes great pride in what he does.He is leaving tomorrow to go to Gulf Port Mississippi (Sept.26) for riverine training.He has showed me some of what they do and it's kind of scary looking to me-us mom's always worry. He will be with riveron 2 after training.I just want to know how dangerous it might be for them when they actually go on a mission.He's trying to sugar coat it for me lol,tells me not to worry but he's my only son and we're pretty close so of course I am going to worry.Any input you could give would be appreciated.I'm sure the other mom's in the riverine group would like to know too.Thank You for any help and thank you for what you are doing for us and our country.
