My son finished A school this week - Yea!!! Congratulations to all the sailors who have moved up to another level. We'll be so glad to have him home for a little while over Christmas. On to power school in January!
Alicia - so sorry about your news! We'll all have to face that first deployment sooner or later, but finding out so close to Christmas must be hard for you and D. I'll say an extra prayer for you both. Do you know if or how you or anyone else can se…
Oh, Susan, I'm so sorry for M. I know you had said she'd had such problems with her knee. Now they finally know why. I really hope all works out for the best and that you and she will be happy with the outcome. Are her wedding plans still on?
Congratulations to all of the sailors finishing schools and going to new posts! It's so exciting to hear of all the places they will go. San Diego is beautiful, but I've never been to Japan. Maybe someday!
Wow! So much has been going on in the past couple of days! Sounds like our kids are going everywhere and having all kinds of ups and downs. Congratulations to all the successes and prayers for all of the disappointments. I think this must be a tough…
Alicia - Good for D! Congrats!
Susan H - Good to see you back on. I thought you had left the site. :-( Goodness! 27 first graders?! I have my hands full with 21 first graders. Bless you! My son said there was going to be a party at Goose Creek for H…
Another question - Does anyone know if graduation dates for the different classes are posted anywhere, like they were in Boot Camp? My son in in A school, class 0952A.
I am an elementary school teacher, mother of 3 with our oldest son in the Navy, middle son in college, and daughter in first grade (2009). My husband and I have been married for 28 years. I love to travel, eat out and go to the movies.
Hello Gwyn. I was just catching up with Nuke School group, and saw that your son is in 0952A in GC. So is my son! My son's PIR was 8/28/09 Div 301. When he got to GC his class didn't start until it was "filled up". So for 2 weeks all they did was "clean". How is your son doing? My is an MM in the school category of things. He is also MAA (Master at Arms).
thanks so much! and yeah i hope so too...i've never lived outside this town lol im used to southern ways and people so it'll be a culture shock for sure
Hey did you know Pinkhummingbird's boy is in Goose Creek, too, for the next two years?!
So glad you held it together...I was so excited, I would start laughing and then the tears would just run down my face...I'm a dork like that.
So glad your son is close by. D called last night and said he had selected his preferences for ship assignment...all of his choices were out of the country. Better dust off my passport!
I was completely bummed. I never saw a single ribbon!!!
To see folk's pictures you need to go to their individual pages. For instance click on Susan H's profile picture and it will take you to her home page. I know she has some up on her page. I have put mine on facebook and will be putting them here soon.
D is staying in Great Lakes. He finished his INDOC days and now he is on hold like Susan's daughter for 2-3 weeks. He was thrilled as long as he was getting a pay check. D will be an engineman responsible for the ships motors, desalinization, refrigeration and climate controls (if I understand the scope of his job properly).
As for graduation...I cried more in during the ceremony than I did the 8 weeks he was gone (LOL). Some of my pictures came out blurry because I was laughing and crying at the same time and couldn't hold the camera still! Wish we could have afforded to stay one more day and be with him all day Sunday, but $$$ is $$$ and it drives our decisions some times. D really was handsome and happy!
Hi Gwyn! My husband is also going into nuke. I havent heard much about if he is a grad and go or not. If you recieve any information about the nuke people, can you please let me know? my husbands div is not doing so well so I havent got a phone call yet so I'm still in the dark about the whole grad n go situation.
Gwyn, I know I would have never made it through the BC phase if it was for NFM. Even now that he is in C school. Everyone is so helpful. I am not looking forward to his first deployment, I know that will be tough too. One of my student's is in BC right now. His PIR is 9/3. He is on ship 14, DIV 307, which from reading other mom's comments, is the worst ship.....lots of goofing around. My son went through the same thing. It does get better for them....and makes them appreciate home more. LOL
