Dear Janet,
I had to do the same with the diet. I'm not a salt/ sodium fan, so I never used it anyway. It was the coffee, I changed to decaf, not bad. I don't like soda, that also has caffeine.

Good luck finding an ENT that speacilaizes in the Meniere's. It's a shame that they don't all speacialize in it, Meniere's is their part of the body ear, nose and throat.

I did also go to a neuorologist. He asked me why, he doesn't do hearing. I remindered him that he does neourology ....as in vertigo problems.
And I didn't go to medical school to figure that out...geez!!! Talk about more frustration!!! UGH!

Let me get going. Please keep in touch.
Take care and God bless.

Dear Janet,
This is funny, I just finished writing to a mom all about Meniere's Disease, since she also asked me.

I hope and pray your mother is alright. Diagnosing is a long process, and very frustrating, until the right ENT, (ear, nose and throat) doctor is found.
I went through 7 ENT doctors before I met with the last one, who specializes in Meneire's Disease.

Now accoding to everything I have read, Meniere's comes and goes in attacks. Well mine came and stayed. But you know, I concider myself blessed, at least I know what is expected.

God forbid, an attack happened while driving a car or walking down stairs.!

I'll give you the run down:
Symptoms:
Hard of hearing / deaf
ringing in both ears (tinnitus)
vertigo
eyes can't focus
brain fog, difficulty thinking and talking intellegently

tests: MRI, MRA, hearing tests, ENG (vertigo testing)
Blood work: CBC, folic acid, B-12, thyroid studies, anti-nuclear AB screen, Lyme AB screen, Syphillis, auto immunenity.

This is all from my copies of my tests.

The medications didn't help me at all, I gave up after a year. But the medications are anti-vert, Dyazide, predisone.

Tell your mother, don't accept dumb answers from these doctors, like "Learn to live with it" This was with out a diagnoses, so live with what!!

Research for a ENT doctor that does specialiize in Meniere's Disease.
There is no cure, and it's permenant. I'm so used to it now, I have it 20 months. It is very depressing and frustrating, I had my independence taken. I can no longer work or drive.

So please Janet, especialy if your mother is diagnosed with this, please, be patient with her! She can not be rushed, she has to stay in slow motion. Help her with the house cleaning. And please don't get mad if she askes you to repeat what you said, please.

My prayers are with your mother. Meneiere's is not the end of the world, she will adjust to it, but there will be times of frustration. She'll need a cane to walk for balance.

Take care and God bless,
Your friend,
Barbara

Hey, nope, no waiting list at all. Husband went to housing office and looked at a house that day they said he could have the keys whenever he wanted to but he waited about a week until we were closer to getting up here. I love it up here. Chris grads A school in July so we are probably going to be moving again around augustish time.

Dear Janet,
Hi stranger, how have you been? I'm doing well.
I wish Shawn well in his classes. What is he training for?

Kim is still docked in Virginia. She doesn't know when her ship will pull out.
So she's doing all odd jobs in the meantime.

She drove up three weeks ago and surprised us. She bought a car, out of boredom!! HAHA! I'm such a nervous wreck when she drives the 7 hour car ride. She keeps getting lost with the GPS, Navigator. Her 7 hour trip turns out to last 12 hours.

I'll let you get going. Don't be a stranger.
Take care and God bless.

hello! the navy will move your personal belongings from a single location to a permanent duty station (i.e. they won't get stuff from a house, and a storage location, just one). when i moved to groton, i had the navy pick up our stuff being stored at my parents house. you do not need to be there, as long as someone is that you have given permission to "sign off" your household goods (my mom did in this case, since i moved to groton a couple weeks before our stuff did). your husband and you need to arrange this with the navy asap. they will send a mover that is contracted with them, and pay for everything. they don't, however, pay to move you, you need to buy your own plane ticket or drive. there is a post office on base, and the base is really small! so, yes it's super easy to ship stuff! plus, most guys are assigned a PO box at the barracks. where do you plan on living?

HI Janet,
I'm well and hope you are too. I do remember you. Its been crazy here too with work and getting ready for the holidays and I have not been onlline much myself. I'm glad your son likes the graphics. :) I love kids and miss having a little one around. Its probably logistically easier to wait til he gets his duty station but not so easy on the heart is it? How much longer til he will get his orders? So glad you will see him for the holidays. Providence is about 50 min from Groton and its where we are flying Matt into when he comes home.I think it is closer than flying into Bradley in Windsor Locks. He will be here on Tuesday and I cant wait!! Have a wonderful holiday with your family and please keep in touch. Take care

Dear Janet
How have you been? SO congratulations on Shawn's graduation.
What is he being trained for?

Kim finished A School and finally got her orders. SHe'ss on the USS Normandy in Virginia.
She did come home for two weeks, and left last Saturday. SO last Friday, I had the Thanksgiving dinner for her.

Don't be a stranger.
Take care and God bless.

Hey Janet, for us our first PSC orders were overseas and the Navy issued and paid for our passports, our airline tickets and they sent a moving company to ship our furniture to Japan! They really did a good job taking care of everything but for a stateside PSC, you probably will have to pay for some of this up front and then submit for reimbursement. Especially if you are driving to the new duty station, food, hotels and gas along the way. They will give him a per diem rate for meals so he knows how much they will cover as far as cost. If you are shipping furniture, they should pack you and ship the furniture and the Navy will take care of those expenses. When he gets his orders, they should give him some counsel about moving you there. Where are you heading to? Are you ready for this new life???
