Hi Janet,
thank you so much for agreeing with me regarding the giving away of a sailor room at home, i just don't know how people can do that unless the child has officially moved out....It's comforting to me knowing it's JAKE's room..I also go into his room and lay on his bed and watch TV makes me feel like he's not so far away. We used to have our own (bonding) time and conversations that no else could interupt while setting on his bed watching a movie or TV show. Now when he officially moves out I don't know what I'll do but for the next 3 years I don't have to worry.

Hi Janet,
I dont know how I missed your post about the airline. Here is the info, when you sailor is flying "ON ORDERS" Which means the Navy is sending him somewhere and they have paid for his flight. He must travel in uniform and carrying his orders. If he does this Delta says he will NOT be charged for ANY baggage no matter what the size or weight. He must be prepared to show a copy of his orders at check in. So arm him with this information and make sure he stands his ground. I did not have this information when my son flew on orders and he was charged $175 for excess weight and baggage. It took me a month to finally get Delta to refund his money. My son had his sea bag, his Navy backpack, and a nice duffelbag on wheels that held all his civis and personal belongings. So he checked 2 pieces and carried his backpack on board. Anyway he should NOT be charged if flying on orders!
When my son flew home for Christmas, Continental charged $15 for each checked bag, but on his flight back American Airlines didnt charge him. They told him they never charge Military regardless if they are flying on orders or flying home for a visit.

Welcome to Navy 4 Moms, this is an exciting website and very informative... We would like to invite you to the Blue Candle Lighting event that occurs in your home anytime you wish to light a candle for your recruit sailor or the military in general. This is done to honor their service during the holidays, birthdays, special events or if you just want to. The Home for the Holidays/Blue Candle Moms also ask you join us in this group. This event and group has no special connections to "any one group" We are all Navy Moms, Wives, and we became Blue Candle Moms.... this included everyone on this website. Please come join us and share your stories and your lightings and your holidays with your child...this was done because some moms were not having their sailors home, and we are support group that can share feelings and fears. Annouce your child is coming home or the despair of knowing on certain holidays it is your sailor we light the candles for. To honor them for the service in the past present and future. To honor those that gave the Ultimate Sacrifice for our freedom. We celebrate the freedom to be Blue Candle Moms and the freedom to light our candles anytime we choose. Please think about our group and the Event and when responding tell where you lit your candle, and the reasons for your paticular lighting. the event will continue and once you rsvp come in anytime and update your lightings.

Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was proud
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
patience and encouragment. I can not tell him enough how proud I am of him.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made
