Yes, Bea did do a great job!!!!! Mich - I am disappointed as well, but the meet and greet in 2010 will make the meeting all the much sweeter! Happy Holidays!
December 11
Jaye Lynn I think we are not going to meet until next year :( I'm a little disappointed, but I also think it is a good idea to wait and meet next month. Dec is such a busy month of everyone. Bea did an incredible job on the M&G calender, kudos to Be…

Jaye Lynn & Mich The following is a tentative schedule for 2010. East Bay is schedule for Mar 28 but there are a number of m&gs before that. I am leaving Dec open for next year and playing it by ear. Holiday could be hit or miss depending on so many…

We only have two confirmed RSVPs (and one of them is me!). I have posted an alternative for lunch vs. dinner, etc. to simplify because of lack of response. Unfortunately, lunch doesn't work for one of the RSVPs. As much as I want to meet everyone, I…

Jaye Lynn I work until 15:30 on Saturday, so there is no way I can do lunch. My husband and I really want to meet with everyone, but maybe December is just too busy a month for most folks. I'm willing to wait until more folks are able to come. Just…

Hello all! Because of the low RSVP turn out, we are changing the venue. Can people meet for lunch instead at 12:30 at Girasole in Pleasanton?
December 8
thanks for the invite - this is the last weekend to prepare for a company christmas party at my home.

Just wanted to be official with my "maybe" response. We will try our very best to attend. Moving to a new house around that time. (Although just around the corner!)

BLOGGING SR ALEX #7

This morning on Navy 4 Moms, one of the moms asked, “I have tons of nervous energy today..I feel like I am on the verge of either tears or pure excitement. Does anyone else feel like this?”

One word, “Yes.”

The last 48 hours have been a total adrenaline rush as our SR Alex began his final boot camp test – Battle Stations. I have never felt this way before – excited, anxious, emotional --- all on hyperspeed.

We knew he would start Battle Stations at approximately 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 29t… Continue

So, this week, Alex does his battle stations which is the final live test of his skills. Its great stuff.

My husband had a Navy lunch today with four other parents who work for the City of Fremont. Great stories. One of the moms brought and shared (and even loaned us) her son's Navy "year book". I opened it immediately not being able to wait to see what was inside.

I was not prepared for the emotion that the book would bring, the memories it would hold. I was overwhelmed with tears and emotion… Continue

Hell week wasn't so hellish after all. He said the only different was having to get up earlier.

The weather is getting cold. His "mates" are wondering why he isn't freezing his fanny off in Chicago being the California Boy. Alex is ready to run in the snow. He is enjoying the cooler weather (when you are sweating like a dog during your drills I can only imagine I would, too).

His entire Division was put on quarantine over the past weekend because 70+ were sick. Alex was one of the 10 healthy o… Continue

Great letter this week....3 pages... WOWIE.. He finished painting his division flag and it is near perfect. They order Division shirts and had a vote between one side of the flag vs. the other (Alex vs. another Sailor). It was a tie. They flipped a coin and Alex lost. Michael Jackson is on their division flag. Is it just me, or doesn't MJ has his own legacy? I regress....SR Alex was a good sport. In fact, he has been (unofficially) designated as "most artistic/most insane (due to his dancing mov… Continue

Newsbulletin in todays news:

The Navy ship, USS George Washington is currently sailing through Typhoon Melor off the coast of Japan. The winds are ranging from a sustained level of 98 mph to 121 mph.

A prayer was posted on Navy For Moms. I thought it rather fitting,

"Oh yes. I will pray. God, put your angels around that ship. Go before it. Go behind it. Make the way safe for them. We trust you to do that as we ask this in Jesus' name. You calmed the winds and the waves before. You are the sam… Continue

Hi Jayelynn, I just saw this comment from you today. We are staying at the Residence Inn. I am not planning on going to the meet and greet because I really don't know anyone and my two kids would probably want to do something else. Where are you staying?

My son was able to take all of that to his barracks as soon as he got into his room on Friday. But we brought that all over on Sunday afternoon when we dropped him off. Your son will have a liberty brief Friday once he arrives at his new school and they will give him the guidelines for his school/barracks. But all of the items you listed should be okay.

Hi, yes my son was Grad&Go for GL, had to be back at Ship 10 by 12:30 to gather his things and took a bus over to the corpsman school. There, he had a quick liberty brief, was assigned a room and then was free for the weekend. But he had no idea where he was or how to tell us to get him. Having RDC's yell at them and direct every move for 8 wks made him nervous about asking anyone anything...kind of funny looking back.

Jaye Lynn,
The East Bay needs a Meet and Greet. If you don't want to do it at your home, just make it at a restaurant. I'll come. It's really nice at a home, but somebody has to step up and make their home available. I loved doing it. I had a blast and will do it again in the future.

My son is grad n go, but we won't have the full weekend with him. He said his flight leaves at 2:00am Saturday. :( We have changed our plans and are coming home a day earlier than planned. He is headed to Monterey to the Defense Language Institute. Kind of ironic.....we live an hour and a half from there!
