Hey Jeanie,
I'm trying to plan a meet, greet, and eat for the Navy Moms here in Eastern NC. Maybe in October. Please respond if you're interested. Thanks, Tammy Song

I'm really sorry to hear about Jake's diabetes. I know he is discouraged and very disappointed. One good thing is that his diabetes was discovered and can be treated. He will find his way, with your help. Did they transfer him to Ship 17? (there is a group for ship 17 mom). My prayers and good wishes are with you.

Hi there! My son is in DIV 097 as well. Has your son got any of your letters you have sent yet? We got 2 from him so far.

Welcome to N4M Jeanie. We live basically around the corner from each other. I live in Snow Hill, well actually Maury. My son has been in since May 08 and is currently stationed in Norfolk on the USS Bataan. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help. Glad to have you here.

Those letters were what kept me from going insane. He also said the letters he received were what kept him going too. I wrote him everyday and so did a lot of others. He said mail call was everybody's favorite time of day. They only get to write on Sundays so you will probably get a letter every Thursday, at least that is when I did. The mail lady must have thought I was crazy cause every Thursday I was sitting on the mailbox. I can't imagine being cut off from everything for 8 weeks. No TV, no radio, no newspapers and the only contact you get is the letters from home. But I must say, it has been a wonderful experience for my son. He is different in so many ways but they are all good and he absolutely loves it. Call if you need anything or just want to talk.

MY SON IS COMING HOME

My son Jake has been diagnosed with Type II diabetes in boot camp. They are sending him home. His dreams of becoming a sailor are over. My heart breaks for him. He will be home in 2-3 weeks. We will open our arms & start over again. God does not close one door without opening another. Good luck to all!!!!

MY SON IS IN BOOT CAMP

My son Jake arrived at GL in the early hours of 12-17. I got my Jake in a box yesterday. I was lucky enough I got my form letter yesterday too. I am very proud of his decision to join the Navy. Jake has always been a great kid. He's just got a good soul. You know what I mean? He's always wanted to belong & could never quite find his nitch. He went to ECU for a year. He was completely miserable. He gained 50 pounds. (freshmen 15, my butt) He finally sat down & said Mom I hate everything a… Continue
