From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
more pride in my son and in my country
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi jillrenee,
Tie a yellow ribbon was a Tony Orlando and Dawn Song. It's about a man coming home from prison and wanted to see if his girlfriend still wanted him if she did she was suppose to tie a ribbon around the old oak tree or he would just stay on the bus. Please don't ask me to sing it you really wouldn't like it.
I believe the yellow ribbon is to show support of our troops and that we will not forget them. This is from the motto we will leave no man behind.

Congratulations To all of you.. I can't even imagine making it through Boot Camp, much less Seres School..Today is my sons' 23rd birthday and he is over THERE.. so no contact for a while.. we all called his cell and sang to him even though he can't play it back for a while.. tears and fears, just gotta keep praying..I am sooooo proud of him though, anybody know the words to tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree..or the story behind it? I'm trying to teach my other kids about it. I had the florist Safeway make up a big yellow bow and ribbon for my tree..

Hello Jillrenee...You have a beautiful name by the way...It's so nice to be able to speak with you and the other mom's who have been around the Navy for a while. I'm not as nervous right now, believe me I will be when he heads to CA for BUDS training and then I will be extremely nervous/anxious when he is deployed. With him going SEAL and not knowing where he is, will be very scary for this mom. My son is almost 23, but he is so mature but I'm sure he is maturing and growing even more. I'm so proud of him and all the other men and women who have made this commitment to serve our wonderful country.

Hi Jillrenee !
I am pretty new to this site too. Where is your son heading? How long has be been in the Navy? My son has been in England since this summer. Holidays are rough - we did not get to see him last year for TDay or Christmas, but he did come home for a week at New Years. This year that will not happen. Hoping to send his twin sister for the New Year holiday. Your other 3 children will help to keep you busy! How old are they?
