Hi Kathy,
How are things going there?
My daughter just finished her first year of college and is back for the summer to work. Tristan is still in GTMO - said he could be home anytime between October and January......just depends on his orders.
How is Jonathan?
Seems like with life so busy we don't stay in touch enough.
It is amazing how much our boys grow up when they are in the Navy and what fine young men they become.
Drop a line once in while. I would love to hear from you.

Kathy, I am so sorry I didn't respond sooner...Your comment escaped me. Anyway, glad to meet you. Yes, I am planning on going. Robert will be moving onto Balson Spa sometime after grad. I believe it was 2-3 weeks. He and a couple other sailors will be finding a place together..I am very excited. I am coming from Las Vegas Nevada, my daughter is coming from LA California, as is her aunt and their dad will be coming from Arkansas! So, we have some travel plans to finish up. Thanks for commenting, I will be sure to check more often. Patti

Hi Kathy,
How is Jonathan doing now?
Tristan is doing well, he is a Seaman Apprentice now and got his two stripes and has 5 ribbons now. He is so proud and doing so well. He doesn't seem to be getting serious with any of the girls now.....taking his time, but he is only going to be 22 in April and like I told him he has plenty of time for girls when he feels ready.
He is working 12 hour shifts and seems to enjoy it.
The Navy has sure been good for him. It is great seeing boys grow into confident men.
My daughter is on her second semester at college and doing well so far.......
I have found a new part time hobby myself with both of them gone - on top of working full time. I am a Pampered Chef Consultant now, it is so much fun - a good way to earn extra money - plus great products and easy quick recipes.
I hope your health is well and your families too.....stay in touch.

Kathy,
I am glad to hear Jonathan made it home for the holidays. That must have been really nice. I am glad you got to spend some time with him. Tristan is hoping to come home for a couple of weeks this year if he can get leave. I guess we will see. Otherwise, we won't see him until the first part of 2010, but this was to be expected. It is amazing how he has matured. When I talked to him last I told him what a change I had seen in him since he went in on April 16, last year.........wow hard to believe it hasn't even been a year yet, it seems like it has been forever. He went in a kid without a real direction and feeling unsure of himself and his position in life. And has grown into a man, who is proud and confident and loves what he is doing. He has met a nice girl from Oklahoma, very pretty - I cannot tell what nationality she is - Italian, Hispanic or Indian......but they are getting to be friends - he is nervous about having a relationship yet......but I told him when it is right he will know, and he worries if he did like her too much about the distance from Oklahoma to Idaho - like I told him if they decide they want a relationship then they can work out the particulars of where to live.
I am just so proud and relieved he is doing well and has found a direction. I know he is finally an adult for real not just in age and know I can feel confident in the decisions he makes now. And that was what I tried in all the years of raising him to give him.......He kind of went off track with knowing what he wanted to do when he best friend died.........but finally back on track.
HIs sister Jamie is in her 1st year of college at the University of Idaho, and didn't do to bad her first semester. So far so good with her too.....no boyfriends yet to my relief.
Great talking to you - we had a pretty good New Year and I truly hope yours goes well..........I work full time - but now with the kids gone and not doing all the running for them, I am getting into being a Pampered Chef Consultant - I love cooking and it is a lot of fun, plus some great commissions and perks......and trips to earn.......If your interested in finding out more about it let me know.

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Said “No way!”
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
