I am here to support or represent my:
Aaron
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
An officer
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Was confused, Needed to learn more about it, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
To support him, his decision, and to learn as much as I could about what he would be doing along the way.

Forums like this one for parents and family are great, and the support and information exchanged between families was very helpful.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger,

Hi Kim,
I'm happy to include you as my friend on this site. Your son's story sounds exceptional. I am sorry that he lost his dad (and I assume you lost your husband.) I see there is an "emptynesters" group. I'll have to check that out, as my husband and I will be empty nesters again once my son leaves his temporary assignment here in our hometown of Phoenix, and classes up to Supply School. Where is Spanaway, WA? My mother-in-law is in Spokane, and I have good friends in Gig Harbor near Seattle.

Hi Kim! Nice to see you here! I see you've figured out the groups tab, when you get a chance you should swing on by the WA/OR moms group and say HI. We're a nice bunch of moms, some with kids Sailors in bootcamp - others, like your son, that are well into their career.

Kim, so happy to have you as one of my friends. How is Aaron doing? Dean is currently on deployment and while his Navy wife (my daughter) misses him horribly, she is doing awesome. Update me on Aaron and how are things with him. Very cool that he is an officer. Impressive. Should I salute? I'm just teasing you, but you have got to be proud. What an amazing young man.

Hi Kim,

Another 20-08 mom!!!!!! Were you on the officerfamilies.com website? I don't remember you if you were. It was a great place like this place to go to and talk to all the other moms whose sons were in OCS. Were you at graduation? Your son would know Owen. He is doing the exact same thing. He was in 20-08 too. Now in SC for nuc school. My son Conor and Owen are best friends since kindergarten. Unbelievable that they ended up in the Navy in the same OCS class.... They are both coming home for a wedding Jan.30 weekend. Going to wear their uniforms. The Girlfriends and moms are excited. I'll ask Conor if he knew an Aaron who went Nuc. I'm sorry to hear that your husband died. It must be so hard on your family. And for your son to be making all these major decisions without his dad..... breaks my heart. What an amazing young man he must be. Owen's mom is not on this site. I have to tell her about it. We are all anxious about our son's careers. Thankfully we have this site and eachother . Pleasse keep in touch.
