Is there anyone who lives within a 50 mile radius of Great Lakes Training Facility that wants to adopt a recruit for the day.

Recruits only are allowed by be adopted by their immediate families and already have sent home the required paperwork. Those not going with their families will be going with local civic organizations such as churches, VFWs, American Legions, just as…
Great Lakes has an adopt a sailor program. They can sign up. I have a friend at work who lives in the suburb next to Great Lakes. I will ask her what she knows on Monday.
I am working on finding someone to adopt your sailor and others. I have relatives in the Chicago area that I am putting the word out too. Hopefully someone will help out.

When does your son leave for Boot Ca,p?
He'll be fine. Once he gets into the rountine of Boot Camp and over being homesick, he'll like Boot Camp. All the recruits do, beleive it or not.
It's the moms having the nervous breakdowns!! HAHAH!!
Boot Camp isn't as horrible as us moms picture it.
Please stay in touch with other Navy moms. I'm always around. Together we'll help you through Boot Camp....we haven't lost a mom yet! HAHH!
