My son just told me last night that he can reenlist in 6 months if he wants, eventhough he has a RE-4 rating, He was told by legal that he just has to go to a doctor to be evaluated.
September 30
It said that he had an erroneous entry.. I don't know why it said that, but the RE-4 level is okay because he won't be reenlisting. When they said he had a "personality disorder" lol, I still laugh at that, it knocked him out of the field he wanted…

Just read on my sons discharge paper that his re-entry code is RE4. So what does that mean? Does that mean he can never reenlist or what?

my son looked cute when he stepped off the bus in his navy sweatsuit. lol. He came home with his "tidy whities" (lol), navy shorts, t shirts and a bunch of socks. He had his medicine when he came home- his painkillers for wisdom teeth removal. He ha…

I asked my son about the "bad ones" being sent home by bus (don't know what that means), but he said most that were sent home was by bus, but some got sent by plane because their families upgraded them to a flight.

I will tell you this, once they get in ship 5 they get a daily phone call and they do get internet ($5 a day). My son was bored out of his mind. He was in charge of laundry so that gave him something to do and they got to watch movies later in the d…

How well I remember waiting for the calls to come in and then every thursday was mail day. My son Shawn never let on to me how much me hated bootcamp but at PIR we heard the storys...He also went in to his commander and told him he wanted to leave- it was not for him and they talked but the commander did not let him call his father or I, he told him he was going to do Shawn a favor and Shawn thought great I out of this hell BUT the commander looked at him and said I'm going to do you a favor ..Get back to your group and tough your here and here is were you will stay !!! Shawn said well guess I'm staying ! It was funny then but at bootcamp it was not. I wrote every day to him, I sent cards all kinds of cards and Shawn learned to read the bible and that it did help. I'll pray for your son.

Thanks for info on pictures. I don't need a really big package (I'm sure I can get copies if needed) and I know I definitely want the grad dvd.

The picture package prices depend upon what they purchase. Our son put about $270 into his package, and we had way lots to share. Others who were on SIQ (sick bay) and missed the photos later went to a photo place when home at Christmas, etc, and had some really nice pictures taken. I actually liked a lot of those better, and much cheaper.
Just to let you know, that with uniforms, pictures, etc, their first paychecks are really small.
To PIR!

Thank you so much for including those other recruits like you did! I can only hope that someone was that kind to my son when he was there! You would think the recruiters would tell parents that they can be there, but it was never once brought up to us & I have no previous experience with the military, so it never crossed my mind that we could attend. So glad that you were there & took lots of pics.
