thank you for the info..I get a bit confused on these type of sites as I don't know if I am writing to you or everyone or what. Sometimes I feel like I am writing to myself. Lovely picture of you and your son. May I add you as a friend? I was on another group but I got so much e-mail following the group I really got confused.I guess there is material as what to do or when to do for his graduation and how long we can see him etc. I am very good at following directions I think. You said that your son is deployed right now and is DCFN I think. What does that mean? reply when you can

Thanks Lenora, I agree. It was a good time, probably not long enough, but there will be more. Have a great week.

Thank you for the kind words. I know how much you must worry about him. Althoughmy son in laws are not my biological sons. I worry something horrible when they are on deployment. Nick will be coming home for his R&R from Iraq in a couple of days. He & my daughter have a brand new baby boy "Noah Michael" born June 26th that he can not wait to see in person. Their other little one will be 2 in Sept. I love em all so darn much. I pray for all of our soldiers safe return.

I will do that, thanks for the info. I know what you mean about hearing your sons voice.....It just does the heart good doesn't it?!! Mine was gone to Iraq for 9 months and since he has been back, he has been out on drills so I sdon't get to talk to him much. I miss it soooooo much!.....Praying that he will be able to come home on leave in August.

Hello! I am glad to have found it as well, although I feel quite isolated still in that I do not know any Navy moms really...only a very few and none of them know me or my son...................glad to be here though.

Hi ~

Nice to meet you as well! So you have a 14 y/o at home? That must be nice and yes, the empty nest is coming at both of us fast. In my case, I guess in a matter of weeks! You definitely give great advise with doing things that interest me that I've put off doing until.....NOW! The bike riding sounds fun and healthy too. Classes are usually interesting and a good way to meet like minded people. And yes, fitness is a must at this point in life and having friends to share and do things with are vital.

Thank you for your compliment on my daughter and it was a tough five years (extra one at NAPS) but she perservered with God's grace. I know you must be so proud of your four children too. My daughter is currently on deployment and I just spoke with her yesterday for the first time in weeks. You probably know how that goes yourself. And my son just graduated high school this year. Maybe I'll check out the book "Do Hard Things" too.

Looking forward to our talking again, Sherry

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
Every tough season changes pretty quickly. If you're in a rough time, do your best every day and persevere, whether you are the active duty or the one 'at home'. Find your happy thought to sustain you until the tide turns in your favor. Then remember the strength you found and use it in the next challenging situation. Help someone else when you can, that will build you up faster than having your chin down.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.
