I need answers to the same questions. My son just left for an 8 month deployment. Looking for help as well as ideas.

gifts sent to a ship

My son is on the USS Rushmore stationed in San Diego. They just left for a 7 to 8 month run. I miss not talking to him. Anyone else have a sailor on this ship???

Hi Lynne, you are welcome for the Hickory Farms info, they are wonderful! My son just got back from deployment a little over a month ago and then he came home for leave. It was wonderful to see him after so long, we missed him so much! You are correct about giving out information. We have to be very careful not to give out any information about the ship, where it's heading and where it's been and no specific information about who is aboard. Especially because this is such a public forum, we don't want to put our sailors in any danger. Thank you for being safety conscious. Have a great day...and don't worry...you sailor will be in good hands and home very soon!

Lynne, the best I have found was shopping at Hickoryfarms.com. They not only have great gifts of meat and cheese which the guys just love, but they ship directly to FPO addresses! Not many companies do that because of the customs forms. They also ship FREE and it got there faster than any packages that I sent directly!
