- About me:
- I am a proud mom of two wonderful sons and a wife to a wonderful husband. I work full-time and I have just finished my Associate degree in Health Administration. I married young and did not attend college, so this was something I always wanted to do. My family was supportive throughout my years of night school and I could not have done it without them. I have a big family, a sister and three brothers and lots of nieces and nephews. They will be my rock when my son leaves for the Navy.

- When I heard “Navy,” I:
- Was proud and encouraged it
- From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
- I have not experienced the Navy first hand yet, but my dad was in the Navy a long...time ago. My son is excited to leave and I am excited for him but also sad...he is my baby.
- Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
- It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

It so good to hear from you. I heard from Zach Saturday and I knew it was not good it had only been a week. They are giving him a hard time on his security clearance because his Dad was borm out of the country. But I just don't get it, His Dad was in the Navy for three years you would think they would have that info. I had his Dad fax it to them so that was taken care of. He sounded so bad. I tryed to be encouraging because we know the first couple of weeks it is really hard. I have been trying to keep from crying ever sence.
On a good note the picture you have posted of you guys together is really great.

When you get your box there will be a letter in it that tells you the address, graduation date and who your son will invite to the ceramist. There was also a web site to answer some of the questions you might have. There is also a video of boot camp. It was good, I felt like I new a little more about what she was going through. Every letter that I get she tells me she is doing great. When she first left time went so slow. Now that we are getting closer to graduation and are making travel plans it does not seem so far away.

- Hi! I know how you are feeling. I felt the same way receiving such short phone call the first time. This site is really helpful. It prepares and informs you so that there are few surprises. You will get a box sent to your home in about a week with your son's belongings. At three weeks we got the first letter. At week 4 I got a 1/2 hour phone call. (That was the best!) My daughter said that hat was the last call she will be making before graduation on Sept 25th. Today we got another letter. She now has three opportunities a wee to write me. In the beginning it was just on Sundays.. When you get your box, make sure to read all the information. It will give you his address, graduation date and other improtant information. I know thatthis is hard not being able to talk to our child, but time does go fast.

I know exactly how you feel - I remember going on and reading and I went on to the discussion of "top ten lines from BC" they made me laugh and cry and I shared them with my husband - this was after Josh arrived at GL and before he got to make any calls home. You are in my thoughts and prayers and really if I can help you with any questions or anything please don't hesitate to send me a note! I know this is really hard on us mom's!! my email is julie_33024@yahoo.com!! Keep in touch - and it won't be long you have a U.S. Navy Sailor!!!!

- Hi Barb - We got our first letter yesterday and he sounded good. Just said that his DIV is doing a lot of talking and he was annoyed with that. He has to get 3 wisdom teeth pulled!! But other than that he is good. I really had a hard time when he left but these women helped so much!!!!!! There are good days and bad days and sometimes I just sit hear and laugh and cry reading what everyone has written. But I have learned so much and look forward this journey that Josh has chosen, I am so very proud of him and cannot wait to see him in July. Take care and keep in touch.
