Wade and Kari - you are both so lucky. Like Deb, Kelly has until the 27th. At Groton, apparently half go the first half of the break, then the other half get the New Year's holiday.
yesterday
OMG - that is pathetic! I, too, was unaware of this situation. Please everyone, watch the video mentioned below about 3 Navy Seals being court-martialed after capturing a terror suspect.

Wade - your son gets 14 days at home? LUCKY!! Kelly gets about 9, but more like 8, since he'll leave early in the AM on the 9th day to be sure he's back on time. Can't trust the weather. Thanks to all who commented on Noah's Santa picture. I have it…

Kelly graduated sub school on Wednesday and will start his AIT after Christmas. That will also be in Groton. Betty, I wish you all a wonderful Christmas season.

Jane and all - I live in Wichita and could probably coordinate arrangements on this end. Having never been to a meet and greet other than the one at PIR, someone may have to give me some pointers. Do you just want me to find a restaurant with a larg…

Amanda - I'd love it if you joined us in Wichita. We're all in this together.

Janice - When Kelly got to Groton, it was going to be about 3 weeks til he got an address, so he rented a PO box - I think at the NEX. It cost him $10 per month but he said he is keeping it instead of getting the base address as he gets mail much qu…

Deb - I talked to Kelly Monday night and he said he had been out in a tee-shirt this weekend. Definitely better than the 10 degrees we have here in Wichita.

Just had to share this picture of little Noah, who can't wait to see his daddy on the 18th!

all right you warm state people - it's 10 chilly degrees here in Wichita BRRRRRRR!! Congrats to your daughter Wade 142.

Deb - You're lucky they are not married. Although I paid for Kelly's ticket home, I probably won't get to see him much. He only wants his wife and son at the airport, not that I blame him - he had a whole crowd at PIR.

I'd love to meet you all in January also. It's such a blah month - need to liven it up a bit:)
December 6
Happy Birthday Jane. We're about the same age - I'll be 60 in February. Thanks for the heads-up about celebrating for a month - I'll look forward to that. I totally agree about not knowing what to do with yourself. I found my identity in being a mom…

Tina - Great looking guys in their uniforms. Know you are proud of both. Haven't heard from Erin for awhile. How is she doing - getting to see Gage much?
December 4
Deb - I know Jacob wishes he could be there. Guess the trade-off it that he got to be at Macy's parade and the rest of you didn't. (Not the same, I know - just trying to cheer you up!) Have a great time at the wedding with Rob being there.

About me:
I have two grown, married children and one grandchild. My son who is in the Navy is an older recruit and has a 7 month old baby, so I probably don't fit the profile of the average Navy mom. However, I'm still just as interested in his career choice.

Hi Martty-it's Nancy Aaron's mom. Thanks for letting me contact you direct about A school in Groton. I'm hungry for any information I can get on what my son might be doing, etc.

Marty,
I've been trying to insert a photo on the PIR site but all I get is numbers and letters. Do you know how to do it?

Marty you are a doll to offer to pick me up. What time are you leaving? I am stuck in training for work until 4 PM then I head to Omaha, unpack-pack-get a bit of sleep- then head to Illinois. Call me anytime at 402 679 2914, and what is your number, maybe I'll track you down or at least keep you company on the drive out. Lora

well I hope he knows that marching is only one aspect of the ceremony, seeing them in uniform, knowing what they ALL accomplished to get there, the tests, comraderie, inspections, PFTs....anyhow, I just hope he knows that we all are proud of each one because whether they are standing in formation, holding a flag, ushering or spot checking, point is they all met the same requirements to graduate and tho some do this job and others do that....it was a team effort and graduation is a reflection of their success. Bravo Zulu Kelly!!

Hi Marty,
I just connected the dots and realize our sons probably have similar paths ahead. My son is set for 10/16 PIR (counting on continued success!) then headed to Groton with the rate SECF. He said there were 8 guys in his division headed for sub school, looks like there may be a pretty big group of guys headed to CT. I'm hoping you'll add me as a friend and keep me posted if you hear anything interesting.

Are you going to PIR?

As far as the book goes, I'm not sure about it for your son since he's already there. I'll let you know after I've finised reading.

wow and i also used to work at betty's in valley center but not while she was alive i worked for harry and rhonda phillips who bought it from the family. believe me as close as it sounds you are he'll call , they all need to hear our voices and comfort to feel safe. they have to buy phone cards on ship to use secured phones, but once in port they can call anytime and talk for how ever long they like. it's great they get so excited to tell of sites and countries adventures news experiences they are having. it's just plain wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
