I found the Cozy Cab helped with the Providence Airport. My flight was at 6:45 am and they picked me up at 5 and it was only $25 or so. Very reasonable compared to the Yellow Taxi at $75. You need to make reservations the number is 401-846-2500 htt…

Hey... I knew there was someone here that this would effect. So, you're the one from Missouri . This will be a tuff game for Navy. I always host the Nay bowl game at my house. This year it is on New Years Eve, so , I'm not sure if many people will come. I think I heard the game is in the early afternoon, so people can still get home before the drunks come out. lol. Should be fun. Enjoy the game.

Hi marsbars, thanks for checking in.
As far as we know, B is doing OK. The slowest runner in her class (the others have either rolled or dropped) but I will guarantee has the shortest legs in class. B was sick, not enough to go into H, but did make a clinic visit. Just keeping my fingers crossed for RLP.
CJ is adjusting. As I am sure you also realized, the hardest part was the lack of communication. His nephew is ill, and has special needs, so that is also a concern to him now. He did get a total guys weekend last week, Purdue- MI State football on Sat and Indy - N.E. football on Sunday.
Mama just keeps repeating "no news is good news." Sending three letters a week. Being a cheerleader as much as I can. I just keep hoping that the DI sees her efforts.

Question - would you be interested in joining a FY10 OCS graduates group? Coralreef and I think that the N4M members from class 01-10, etc, formed close friendships, and it could make it easier to maintain those friendships in a group from these classes. I don't want to drop the OCS grad group, and I won't, but it could get hard to keep track of everyone. What is your opinion?

Enjoying having your hubby back? and is the puppy being a puppy? What are your plans for thanksgiving?

Hey--I would have done the same thing--ask Jared about the faces I made when he got on the kindergarten bus way back when:)

Haven't heard anything more since he spoke to a detailer and said that March was probably the time for Nuke School in Charleston.

Graduation is next week, so orders aren't too far away.

Margie,
I got a brief text from Josh yesterday. He said he spoke with a "detailer" (like an on base counselor?) and it looks like he will class up in Charleston some time in March. Until then he would be in Lansing Mi. (home of Michigan State and where he signed up) which is about 1-1/2 hours away from here. It also happens to be where Dana is. She lives in a dorm and is a resident advisor which pays for her room & board.

Lansing being a college town, will be a tough place to find an apartment for just a few months. Most leases there are for 12 months. He might be able to weasle a room with the triathalon team where he lived last year. If that happens, I wonder how long before the old habits of house cleaning (which were NON EXISTANT) would take over.

Of course, he's welcome here and if he were to get hours like your LO, he could drive back and forth. That would be a lot of miles though. I'm sure MSU would not allow him to live in the dorm with a certain someone.

I'm thrilled it will be a little more time with him around home, but I also realize that these aren't his orders yet. We'll just have to wait and see.

Yes, three boys got (and still does sometimes) a little rough. In fact, when we get together Kate and I usually find out how rough when stories start flying. This past weekend, Jason (oldest), Jeremy (baby) and I were having breakfast so I texted Josh to see if he could call. He did call and I learned off a time when Jeremy had said/done something to Jason. Some how they ended up in the bathroom with Jeremy over Jasons shoulders, Josh flushing the toilet while Jason tried to shove Jeremy head into it (that is affectionately called a "SWIRLEY").

Sitting there in the restaurant listening to the boys talk to one another was terrific. Jason won the "bragging rights" this weekend, as Michigan won both hockey games against Lake Superior State. Jeremy just responded "Wait til next time".

We are very proud of all the boys and their accomplishments. All have competed on the state levels in their sports and we were thrilled to watch. Yes, I swam all through high school and college. The sport paid for my education, so I feel very fortunate. That is one of the reasons I have coached for so long (many years as a volunteer), so I could give back to it.

During the phone call, Josh said that Saturday night was their first "off base" liberty. When I asked if he liked the town, his reply was "the bars were cool". Boys will be boys.

Anxiously awaiting Nov 20th and graduation.

No more garndchildren in the future for Jason and Tina, so it's up to the other two boys now. I would like more, but can wait .

Her degree will be accounting/marketing/business (one of the three, or maybe all) and we do think the world of her. We never had a daughter, three sons kept us busy enough and often times, Kate felt outnumbered. It's probably a good thing that I didn't have a daughter because I would have been wrapped around her little finger like nobody you've ever seen. Her boyfriends would have probably hated me.

My three sons are Jason (32), Josh (22) and Jeremy (21).

Jason lives in the Ann Arbor area (University of Michigan grad.) and married a gal (Tina) that had two daughters Cepeda and Jamyra (instant grandpa and I love it). They are both outstanding gymnasts and it is a thrill to watch them compete. Jason was a swimmer in high school and competed for me.

Cepeda is a sophomor at Western Michigan University and after her freshman year, has earned a full athletic scholarship there. Her boyfriend isn't really sure of what to make of me. When I say say something to her about him, I get that "Oh grandpa Mike come on now!". It's great.

Jamyra is a freshman in high school and a Level 9 gymnast (which I guess is really good) and got to that level two years ahead of her sister. She is just starting to get interested in boys (I'll bet it started sooner, but she's not telling me)and I am having a ball with it.

Josh of course is our OC (OOPS), our CO. Can't make that mistake now can I. He also was a swimmer in high school and also swam for me (if you can't tell, I"m a swimming coach). He didn't swim for Michigan State, but did compete on their Triathalon team and went to two national championship meets with them.

Jeremy our baby (Oh he hates it when we call him that) is also the biggest and single (looking for love I guess). Didn't like swimming, so he played football and wrestled. Neither of which, is offered at LSSU. They do have a very successfull hockey team though. In fact, Jason is here now and he and I are going up there this weekend to watch them play against the University of Michigan. A "boys weekend". I'll have to sit between them, as the fight for "family bragging rights" of the better univ. will be determined. I hope he moves somewhere warm when he graduates.

Weather here today is cold (low 40's) and raining. What does the sun look like, I forgot.

Josh called Weds. evening from his cell phone and the three of us talked talked for almost an hour. It was GREAT!!!!!!! Hearing him laugh and talk about OCS and answering a million questions from the two us( many of which were asked at the same time I'm sure). He showed great patience as he answered them all. They went to Boston yesterday and he sent me a picture of himself and the USS Constitution over his phone.

One of my "idols" is chef Emeril LaGasse on the food network channel. Sometimes when Kate gets home for dinner, she'll say "Oh no, you watched Emeril today didn't you?". So far, I haven't blown too many meals. I don't mind cooking and between the two of us, whoever has the time that day, does the cooking. Right now, I have the time during the week.

Dana will graduate in May. I'm not sure of their plans after that. They both have had their plans for after school, but I don't think they planned on falling in love. They are great together.

Right now, the temp. here is 50 degrees which isn't bad, but the last week or so we haven't seen the sun and it has been drizzle/rain for most of the week.

9:00am and then home by 1:00, wow, those hours are almost as good as my retirement.

Kate is still working (nurse) and will continue for about 11/2 years. Then our last son (of three) will have graduated from college (Lake Superior Stae University - criminal justice/homeland security) and the two of us will just travel between the three sons and bother them. I think it's called PAYBACK.

Well, I think I better start dinner so the working girl won't throw me out.

Margie,

Josh is the only Sub Nuke in his class, but there are a couple SWO NUkes I think.

Kate's father was in the army (Corps of Engineers I think) and mine was a Machinist Mate 1st class in the Navy. I've been trying to find what the insignia for his rank would be. I can remember his uniforms from storage when we were kids (one year, one was altered for my halloween costume) and I think it was an eagle over a propellar over three chevrons. I'm not sure where to go to look.

Josh has a girl friend (that we think the world of) who is finishing her senior year at Michigan State. Dana (that's her name) will be flying out to Newport lateThursday night (after some exams) and will be there for graduation and the celebration afterwards. I'm sure she will ride back with him in his car rather than with us (YA THINK ha ha).

My friend in SC said to try and avoid North Charleston and Hanahan (sp) as they are high crime rate areas. If Josh does anything besides studying down there, he is to find golf courses that I can play when we visit during our cold winters (again ha ha).
