About me:
I am a WV girl born & bred and live in the north central part of the state.I'm new to this site, but was glad to find it.I have one child currently serving aboard the USS George Washington. His name's Bill.
I am here to support or represent my:
Son/Daughter
Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
How to let go, if that is ever possible for a mother to do. I'm still trying to learn as we go and to support my son in any way that I can.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

HI MJ, I got a report from Sandra one of the navy moms. If they take 2,000 units of viitimin D a day they won't catch the flu.
I am under the weather today. But I hav been working in my house. I don't try to hurry it because I know it is going to take time. This stuff has been colectiong for 20 years.Everybody thought I would get bored but I have a lot of things to do.
Take care . Sandy

Hi MJ, Did you hear about the outbreak of swien flu on the ship. I emailed Billie about it yesterday. She said it is true. I read an article on navy for moms the GW page if they take 2,000 units of vitimin D a day they won't get it. So good ole Mom is going to get some and mail it. I think I am going to get hand santizer as well to send.. There is a DR. that goes to my church I will ask him what else we can send them..I'll let you know what he says.
How are you doing? I can dig this retirement stuff.I have been playing catch up in this house.
Talk to you later. Sandy

Hi Mary Jane,
Happy July 4th! This holiday means more to me now that my son is in the Navy and watching "Carrier" makes me appreciate our sailors and all military more than I ever have. It sounds like your son has had some experience on the G-Dub so I'll probably have a lot of questions in the future.

Have a great day and weekend!

Mary Jane,
My son enlisted as undesignated Airman. I wasn't really aware of this until after he had enlisted. I knew that every rate he was interested in (when he was talking to the recruiter) was full so they put him in the Airman Career Track. Hopefully, it will work out for him. He is really interested in firefighting and damage control. He was a volunteer firefighter for two years before he enlisted.

My husband and I have been watching the movie "Carrier" and it has really been an eye-opener as to what goes on.

How long has your son been in the Navy?

Hi Mary Jane, thanks for the friend invite. My son isn't on the GW yet. He has had verbal orders that he will be going there after his school in Pensacola. Is your son in Japan now or on the ship?

I have some relatives in WV and I've been to some areas like Summersville, Logan, and Beckley.

Mary Jane: Yes, I got a couple t-shirts there in Great Lakes as well when Jon graduated boot. I wear them all the time - but I really like the design on yours! I get comments at times also when I wear them. I agree this website has been so awesome and makes me feel closer to my son as well. Good to know you!

Hi Mary Jane, Wanted to let you know I finally heard from my son over the weekend and then again Tuesday morning. He's been busy and has been put in charge of his division. He hopes to come home for a visit around the holiday's, which will be really nice. It was so good to hear his voice. We're hoping to use Skype when they get back to port just to see him in person before they leave again. How's your son doing?
