Stage of (Sailor’s) Navy Career?
Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was concerned or afraid, Said “No way!”
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
I sent my young son off cried my eyes out as they left. Only for my young son to come home A MAN ! words cannot describe the HUMBLE PRIDE that a mom has.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer

I'm taking Ashley back to Washington on the 23rd, but won't be there for the homecoming party and I hear it is really something to see. I think Ashley and Dean are going to need some time together given the time they have been apart. It's been a tough deployment for them. Awesome that you will be there for the homecoming. Nice to have it so close. It's been a long time since these sailors have been home.

Hey Melissa, My son Austin is on the Stennis. I live in Erin TN. I lived in Colorado Springs when I was in grade school. Austin has been in the Navy three years this August second tour on the Stennis. He is with the Eight Ballers. Are you going to be able to go on the Tiger Cruise. I miss him so much, when he is stationed in San Deigo he calls everyday. That was so sad about the sailor that died in Singapore. I haven't heard from Austin since they first arrived there except by a few e-mails and I guess he couldn't mention any thing about that. My heart and prayers go out to his family. Sincerely, Lynn

Melissa,
Hi. I just realized you had requested to be friends and thought I'd respond. My son, Ryan, went into bootcamp last summer. I, like you, cried my eyes out, it was awful. But now he is a man. He is in the nuke school for two years in South Carolina and then he will be on an aircraft carrier for four years. How does your son like the carrier life? I work and live near Boulder so we are pretty close to each other. nice.

Nate made it through the dreaded RLP! Perhaps now we can focus on something else. Still haven't heard from Josh?

Hey Melissa,

Wanted you to know, we heard from Nathan this weekend! Finally, after 2 weeks we got 5 blessed minutes. He sounded like he was dragging. In some ways the call was a bit unsettling. This 3rd week however, I understand a new class is coming in so the DI's attention will be averted at least on occasional. They aren't the lowest one on the totem pole anymore. But a very difficult inspection is coming during week 4. So that would be next week, most likely Thursday. As the Lord leads, please keep him in your prayers. May G-d strengthen him for the task at hand, give him confidence and peace. Take care.

Hi Melissa! I just wanted to share that my sailor is on the Stennis also. I'll keep you and your sailor in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Melissa,
I too have a son on the Stennis. Just wanted to lend some support from one military mom to another. My oldest is an Army Vet. Both were in the Middle East in 2007. So I can relate to the sacrafices military families make. Happy yours & Josh's Navy experience has been a happy one. Deployments are tough, but the reunions are oh so sweet. So hang in!!!!!
