I have questions about the seals

That's what I keep telling him. He needs to have a back up plan. He still has a while before he can do anything so hopefully he will find something he wants to do.

I have questions about the seals

I don't want to sign any papers right now. I just want him to have all the information that he can to make the best decision for himself. Maybe they will just talk with him.

You've given me a lot to think about! True, I wish my son had gotten his college degree first. He went to college for 1 year and then decided to join the Navy. My husband urge him to become a Navy diver but my son had to do his own thing, which is...

Yes, but in general we just really need to remember to be careful. Our pride shines through, but my son has been deployed, and I am just really worried about him, and I know others share my feelings.

http://www.navyformoms.com/video/opsec-internet-safety I think we all need to watch this video and pass it along. This site is unsecured. We are not supposed to put pictures of SEALS or SWCC on the site. Thank you all for all you do!

Hi There! Love your son and admire his sense of purpose. My son has found his true calling in life with the U.S. Navy. I have never been more proud in my life! We at Navy4Moms don't divulge specific info about our children, but honor your son's c...

WOW! I just found this thread... and am thrilled to see such input and perspective! I, too, am the proud mom of a Navy SEAL. Sept 11 was the fall of his senior year in HS, and although he wanted to enlist then, we encouraged our son to go to colle...

My son (now 25yrs old) wanted to join for the same reasons. First when he saw the recruiter The recruiter gave him some advice along with movies and books to read. Long story short Jasdon has joined the Navy 6 yr now and has just entered a dividio...

I know the anxiety that you must feel regading your sons' interest in the SEALs program. I had the same feelings when one of mine told me of his plan - which was to try out for the SEALs. I asked him why he wanted to join a group like that and his...

My brother-in-law was a Navy Seal and retired after 20 years. It's an absolutely grueling time in buds. but he says that it made him the man he is today and the friendships are lifelong and closer than brothers.

Kim Ann, I know what you're talking about - BUDS PREP. It's true they now recognize SEAL as their own rating but I didn't mention it on purpose. The problem I see with this option is that if someone who attended BUDS PREP then BUDS drops for whate...

It's a really hard job. He has to pass lots of testing before he even can make it. There is so much training involved. Find out how long he is to be enlisted. My son is in SpecOps and its 6 years! Good luck!

Hi Mom, My son also went through the DEP program in high school and wanted to be a SEAL. We suggested him to go through his A school first. After he completed that he got accepted in BUDS. He made it to Hell Week and rang the bell. Physically he c...

I understand where you are coming from. My son is also 17 and we just enlisted in the DEPERS program last Monday. It took two different trips to MEPS to get his "contract". He passed his physical the first trip to MEPS but their were no jobs avail...

I do not mean to be disrespectful to you Laina, but this is not entirely true. They become a sailor at the end of BC, as all recruits do that pass all the requirements. You can join the Navy with a Spec Op contract, and they do test PST's on top o...

Hi Navy Mom17, A recruit becomes a sailor - goes to a A school and THEN applies for the SEAL program. Lots of people don't make it and there is NO shame in that - just trying shows great courage. For those that do make the program they are prepare...

My son knew from an early age that he wanted to join the Navy and become a SEAL. He has been in the Navy for 12 years and 3 years ago became a SEAL. The best advice is to be supportive of his goal. Becoming a SEAL is difficult enough to say the le...
