How do you hold down a job when you're 'married to the navy'?

Mmm, in terms of an actual degree, I'm not too concerned about it, I've got 2 years worth of AP credits (though only a year or so of them will actually follow me to college, most places), so my BS ...

Maybe I'm wrong but it looks like there are pretty good opportunities for working alongside the DoD/Navy etc with a PhD in psychology, as a civilian. I'm not sure about the transportability of the ...

Yeah, I just hadn't thought ahead to the constant moving and licensing issues for psych work. Perhaps if I worked for the government in some manner I wouldn't have to relicense every time I moved.....

Hey! Yes it is very hard! I have found that the only thing thats keeps me sane is putting money away! I know that sounds strange but That is one thing I am always worried about! I like to plan for these things... the last min moves and all the traveling involved with keeping a long distance relationship. All I can say is plan whats in your control. And he will take care of the rest! Believe me its so hard to do that but thats all you can do. I hope that helps let me know if I was just rambling! :)

Thank you, & yes, the distance, while not the same since it doesnt have the Navy thrown in there, is still good preparation I think. When we lived in MD & FL, we saw each other a couple days out of the year. Literally, there were years where we were lucky if we saw each other 7 days out of 365. Once I moved to FL, we were about 80 miles away, I believe. 70 or 80. And like you, we would visit each other on weekends. Trade off, one weekend at my place, one at his. Now he's at Pcola for A-school, about 350 miles away, so I plan on driving there one or two weekends out of the month to see him.

AP credits are my favorite thing, ever! Besides like, shopping, Gage, and my dog. .. and a couple other things. :P I am graduating almost a year early because of them. It rocks.
Gage and I have been together for 4 years in November. :) High school sweethearts, kind of, except we went to high schools in completely different states. Both of our dads retired from the military (Navy & Marines) in Maryland, but his dad took a job offer in Florida a couple years down the line. So they moved, and .. after they moved, Gage and I started dating. Hahahaa. We're a little strange.

Ahaha! Thats a pretty amazing way to describe where you live xD
For me, when my dad enlisted into the Marines, he was a Florida resident. When he & my mum had me, they signed me up for this program Florida has, its prepaid college pretty much. They pay a little bit every month until I was eighteen, and my first 4 years are paid for, and for less. Pretty good deal. So, I moved here for college, and am at a 2 year school, transferring in January like I said. UNF has sociology up to a masters, so I figure even though I could move to wherever Gage is stationed, it's best to just stick with UNF for as long as I can. what difference does another two years make anyways? After that, it's up in the air :)
So how long have you & your man been together??

woo, Illinois? good luck with that. I just spent the weekend up there for gage's PIR. hated it. hahahaa. I used to live in Maryland (and ten thousand other states), and cold is definitely not something I missed. Illinois is a cruel reminder that sub-70 tempuratures do exist. Hahaha.
I go to Santa Fe College right now, and I'm transferring to the University of North Florida in January. .. I dont know what I'm doing for grad school, yet. It depends on where Gage is stationed at that point, I think. We're planning on getting hitched after i get my BA, and such.
:)

are you doing couples therapy as well?! I plan on getting a PhD in Sociology, minoring in Gender Studies, to be a marriage counselor!!
I figure those are pretty in demand with spouses in the military. I took a Marriage & Family class a few semesters ago, and my instructor doubled as a teacher and marriage counselor. He's kind of my inspiration, it was the best class I've ever had the pleasure of taking.
Where are you planning on attending?
