Enlisted
When I heard “Navy,” I:
Was proud and encouraged it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
My father, father-in-law, husband and son-in-law was/is in the Navy. Now our 19 year old son is delayed enlisted and due to go to boot camp September 15, 2009.

I met my husband while he was stationed in San Diego, California in 1983.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

Hi Radioma! Just saw your birthday post in the Stennis Mom's group. Welcome! So your son is on the Stennis!? Tell me more about him. My son has been with the Stennis for just a little over a year now. The ship is awesome! I got to see it this past summer and took a cruise with the sailors! I was impressed.

Hi Radioma4, I'm not sure if you saw my recent post but I DO recommend you check out the RTC's webpage http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/index.asp for info about bootcamp. My son acted exactly the same way about 5 days before he left. Now he's begging for me to write him everyday and send song lyrics, record TV programs he's been missing, etc.! Guess they still miss their moms more than they want to admit! Best wishes to you all and stay strong. Write him everyday and don't expect much from him at first. That will change...I promise you.

Hi Radioma4, we are from upstate, new york. Originally my son was going in for air rescue diver, but he decided against it and chose aviation tech. He will be going to great lakes as well and then Pensacola for tech school following. Thanks for the reply. Take care.

Hi & welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my son Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What will your son be doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your recruit. Pat
