its been a long time, how are you doing? i have the other michael, mine is doing fine, got his flight booked, found a website on the japan moms site,Carol 6 hours ago
KIM, here are some links for you for travel and discounts that actually make a difference!

http://www.militaryonesource.com/MOS/FindInformation/Category/Travel.aspx

http://www.mwr.navy.mil/mwrprgms/itt.html

http://www.onetravel.com/travel/military-travel.asp?FPaffiliate=Google&FPSub=GO-03b_MIL_Air_Trvl&LOTmpNbxwod5CctZw wCFQgclid=CPat_

went on the onetravel.com and found the cheapest rates of what was left. they said that these are un advertised flights for military and retired military. I told michael to pass the information around to help out other people who needed help with tickets. feel free to pass it around, keep a link for yourself, but we were looking at flights at over 650.00 round trip back home to texas. my daughter found tickets back to minn. round trip for both of them for 500. total. i think most of the best tickets are gone by now but you can check it out for yourselves and see. hope it helps you out. keep in touch, i know everyone is busy, but its nice to hear from some one once in a while.

Hi Sara, your job sounds very interesting, mine is just retail, i work for Lowes in Pasadena. I have been there 8.5 years. Sometimes i wish i could find something else, but that is usually just luck or going back to school and at my age i dont think so. I think i would like to get a job in the hospital like my daughter. She is expecting very soon now, down to two weeks, they gave her the option to pick a date, but i advised her to let nature take its course, see what happens in the next week or so. The baby hasnt moved completely down yet, but there is still time. They close on their house tuesday, so i will be busy helping them get moved. They are having a washer and dryer delivered today to our house, i did help them get that, so my job does pay off. The washer is a scratch and dent special, but it isnt very bad and her husband has a tool that will fix that but for half off, i am not complaining, same with the dryer, a man bought it, belt broke, and brought it back. The repaired it, inspected it, and got it for half off also, so they got a really good deal and with the home warranty it will be covered if anything fails. I am glad that our sons got to meet. Michael is kind of shy and doesnt meet to many people so i am glad that they got to meet. By the time your son gets out of the kitchen, have him get with my son and he can help him get with the people to get his qualifications done. my son is busy getting his book work done, it has to be done by nov, one year after it gets started, dont ask me what it is , i dont know, but my son will advise him. Your son may already be on it. I havent heard from my son in a few days, he usually calls most every night. i had a really bad headache a couple of nights ago when he called and couldnt talk to him and hte past couple of nights when i expected him to call he didnt. Hope you get to houston, would like to meet with you and get coffee. Would be nice to know another mom since our sons know each other also. have fun with your trips.

Hi Sara, how are you doing? i havent heard from anyone in a while so i guess i better do a better job writing too. How is your son doing in the galley? It is a leanring experience. My son worked for Jack in the box for a while so he had some experience with that kind of work so it was easier knowing what to do and what was expected. hope all goes well and he will be out in no time. Then the real fun begins,

Sara, how long has your son been on the ship? We may have another Michael on the ship who is FC also, now wouldnt that be unbelieveable? i just caught that you said he just took a tour of the ship, so i may be thinking of another michael in FC, we are really going to get mixed up!

My son has been on the ship since the very last days of dec of last year. so not to long, i talked to him last night and i think he knows your son. My Michael was schooled in Dam Neck on both RAM and Sea Sparrow but took RAM. He was unfortunately sent to the galley as soon as he made ship and is having problems getting him m3 qualification done. He is supposed to talk to his sister this afternoon on some things, she had a mentor as soon as she was sent to the ship and they made sure all their things were taken care of before anything else came in the picture. I think Michael said that your son got his stuff taken care of pretty quickly and hasnt had to go to the galley yet. They needed someone in my son's division at that time to go and he had to go and was there for 4 months. His last name is Henry, big guy cant miss him, built like a football player. yeah that is a pretty good co incidence.

Sara,
Have no worries, he'll be fine. Paul is SK which is Storekeeper on the Truman. He has been in the Navy a whole 6 months. Your son will be able to e mail when the internet is up on the ship, they do shut it down for security at times, so you mail and when he can he'll get back to you. Sometimes it is just a line, be some is better than none. Besides, you always have us....sometimes we (Moms) get news and pass it along thru this. You will be fine too. He is Growing......in a GOOD way. How old is your Son? Paul is 23.

My son thinks I am crazy but he is used to me talking about what is going on with me and my Navy moms now. It is really good support. I know I would not have made it through boot camp with out the help of some wonderful moms and with deployment upcoming I know I'll need the support and glad I am getting to know some wonderful Truman moms. I also have a grand time getting together with some of the Navy moms who live up here in the tri state area and surrounding states, I will be going into NYC for /fleet week and helping out with a BBQ for over 100 servicemen and women. I have order a Truman apron for the occasion. Hope to talk soon and good luck to your sailor.
