About me:
I am the proud mother of 2 sons & several other kids I like to call my own, I'm very happily married to a wonderful man in the construction business. I spent my career mainly in advertising, unfortunately I became ill a few years ago & now I'm unable to work full time. I do help out at my chiropractor's office. Get's me out of the house. I'm 45 & still kickin!

Was concerned or afraid, Was proud, Encouraged him/her
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
That I can trust my son to always do the right thing & that even though I'm terrified for him when he's at sea, I know he's smart & extremely well trained. He's serving his country & it's what he wants. I have to just continue to have faith that God will keep him safe.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
Our relationship has grown stronger, This was a maturing experience, The Navy has a lot to offer, This was the best decision he/she could have made

Hi Stacy...thanks for your msg. back. Wow, your son, Jason has been in five years... it sounds to me like it has been an awesome experience for him... is he considering "career" Navy? We have lived in Prescott since fall of 2001... you might actually know my son, Jason. He works in customer service, etc. at Safeway on Iron Springs/Willow Creek. He thought he might have met you before... Last month I was invited to join a local group called Blue Star Mothers of America hosting all branches of the military. They meet once a month, next Tuesday being the next mtg. Would love, though, to meet with moms of Navy boys :) especially... I'm at JoAnn's most days of the week (except Sundays) 9am-2pm. Stop by and say hi sometime...

My name is Laura Scissons and I, too, live in Prescott, AZ with a son, Jason, who is going into the Navy (MEPS next Tuesday). He brought home a Navy for Moms flier and once I joined that group, Joyce invited me into the AZ group. I searched through to find another Prescott mom and found you! My husband is also in the construction biz, I am 45 years old, have 3 other children and work part time at JoAnn Fabrics as a cashier... would love to meet you and chat about our boys, Navy, etc.... :)

Sorry I haven't responded sooner. I started some college classes this week and it is taking a bit to get into the swing of things. It was great seeing you on Saturday, I would have loved to had a chance to catch up with you too, we will definately do that next time. Which cake did you have? I had the chocolate and I thought it was to die for too.
Hopefully you can come in October, Julie and I are hoping to get a meeting together in the Northeast Valley, at Desert Ridge.

Stacey....I'm with you, it was wonderful to get together again. It had been way to long! I was a little embarassed, I didn't recognize Jane when she first came in....did she change her hair or something? Anyway....it was an awesome afternoon and I love Prescott Valley. Hiromi and I stopped at the Anthem outlets on the way back in, I had never been there before...but now I know where I'll do my Christmas shopping!! Keep in touch!

Hey Staci: Boy....it's been a while!!! Glad to know you're still among the living....other than Jason coming home for 10 days, where in the world have you been? I didn't know he had gone to Iraq, glad he's back from there....and Japan, WOW! I've been in touch with several moms who have kids over there and they just love it! Cory is still in Virginia. I'm heading up to see him next Thursday. He was in Africa for 7 weeks...but that's about all the travel out of the states for him.

Paige has posted a get together in Prescott Valley for August 22nd...it on the "Events" page. Hope I'll see you there!
