There's a place in Gurnee called the Backyard Pit, great steaks there and not far from the base. I have also been to Outback in Gurnee and also Texas Roadhouse, both are fine also. I live about 30 minutes from the base, so I guess I'm a local. HTH.

About me:
I'm a wife to a wonderful husband for 21 years, proud mom of 2 sons (one is 19 and in Groton, CT for A School, the younger is 14). PIR on 4/24 was thrilling and wonderful. Since son was on G&G we had a short visit, but it was great. We got to hang with him at the airport for a few hours and a West Point grad bought him his mushroom cheeseburger at the O'Hare Chilis! I work full time, and rubber stamp and scrapbook as a hobby. We have one very spoiled dog that also keeps me very busy.
I am here to support or represent my:

When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
We're still very new at this with my son, but my husband served in the Navy Reserves for many of the years of our dating and marriage. The most important thing is to stay in prayer and the Word, and communicate as much support as you can to your loved one.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

I think that Chris isn't in there because he didn't take a photo? Maybe? I don't know the only other thing would be that he is in as Christopher. Don't know but even though he didn't take the individual picture he is in the group Div picture (both of them). ONe is on the morning of Graduation and one is prior to that. Ummm...Chris dodn't buy the Kneel so I can't see myself. Ugh!
I am sorry to hear that Andy was sick, I am glad that he is better now. Wow...the flu sure messed things up with a lot of people. What is new with you? Are you going to see Andy soon. Chris may be coming home for a visit in July.

Adjusting...with help...Russell calls about every 2 weeks. He is putting in a lot of time studying. Did not get a roommate until 2 weeks ago, lucky him. I graduated from college Saturday, June 13th. It was a great day, my sister and niece from NJ flew to CA for it and my daughter flew in 2 weeks ago. We had a small party at the house after then drove to Las Vegas Saturday night to meet two more sisters from NJ as they could not get in early enough for the graduation. Six of us here having fun...hung out by the pool all day and checked out a few casinos tonight(Sunday). Here until Wednesday then back to CA and work. I already feel another loss knowing I don't have any upcoming classes or homework! I plan on moving to the East coast in August. Russell will graduate from A school on August 7th. I plan on attending at this point. He will be coming to CA for his 10 days of leave. Hope all is well with you and yours. When does Andy graduate and where does he go from there? Russell stays in South Carolina mostly, with an opportunity to do one school in NY, not sure he will if he means being there in the winter. Thanks for checking in on me.

Fleet week sounds so fun! No you would never offend me, that's so funny! You silly!!! I talked with Chris this last Friday and I know he had the weekend off, but I was not able to connect with him the rest of the weekend. I think he just stayed around on base, but I am not sure. Hopefully whatever he did he had fun, maybe I will hear from him today. What's new with you? Anything happpening?

Yes we were there, He was Grad and Go so a short visit. He is in Pensacola with an indefinate wait for A school for Aviation mechanics, may be MONTHS from the soud of it and he is getting bored already. Cannot figure out if he is getting the guidance to do what he should be doing. As a Mom I have little sympathy for the cleaning and ironing he is doing.. Sent 2 boxes of civies out today, the humidity is hard on him. Being from northern MI we get humidity but not constant. He could not wait to leave the cold but now the heat. Good luck with your son, sounds as if he is doing class and progressing. Paul calls frequently but have to drag info out of him. I think it is a male thing, Good luck, nice to talk to you.
