I agree on the sailor talk.. When I spoke to Aaron the other day from GL he cussed a few times and said sorry mom thats the way they all talk here.
My son is FC ( well on his way to being one lol!) He is on FC hold for A school in GL right now.
Ok all you warmites... It is negative 8 here in colorado. It was neg 17 this morning. I want some warm weather already. Missing my son in GL doesn't help.

Any Navy Moms get to see their sailors during Christmas stand down in Great Lakes this year? My son Aaron gets Liberty December 18th-January 3rd. Unfortunately he is going to his Dad's in Texas during that time.

Sorry to hear about Tim not passing but like you said maybe God has greater plans for him at home. I was hoping he got my letter and I was sending him a Christmas card on monday. I guess I won't now.

I know my son Aaron is trying new things " because he can" and I wish he wouldn't but I can't stop him either. I don't know what I would do if Aaron went a different route than what we ( and him) were raised. I am not judgin…

- Lisa, Thanks for the info. My jaw is hanging open. I can't believe 9 months of holding. Aounds like they need more instuctors or else they need to let fewer into the training program. My sailor was another rate in ENG and it was overmanned so he is retraining in this rate. Sounds like a whole lot of waiting around for something to happen. Did your sailor choose this path before bootcamp, like when the papers were signed? Was it 6+2 years of recruiting at the end? Even so, 3 months of hold, never mind 9 months is enough time to be in the cold winds of Great Lakes. Thanks for any more incite you have for me. BigDMom Mona

It was awesome, you have something to look forward to.! Did Aaron pass his run? They were all sick and tired, but they were thrilled to leave the GL.......Have a great time with your sailor, the Red Carpet is very close to base. Make sure your parents bring quarters on the way to the Red Carpet. I brought a roll of quarters and used them all on toll rolls. But we stayed about 10 minutes away at the Embassy Suites....
