When I heard “Navy,” I:
Needed to learn more about it
From my experience with the Navy, the most important thing I learned was:
They are family oriented. When my son had a grandparent pass away, he was in the middle of the ocean. The care that was given him during this time gave me a comfort level that shows the Navy is family.
Through this Navy experience, I now believe:
It was positive and maturing. Our relationship has grown stronger.

You Can Help

This weekend, I had the honor and privlage to hear a Warrant Officer that had been very seriously wounded by an IED speak at an American Legion Auxiliary Conference. Although this man's story brought the audience to tears, it also helped us realize what we can do.
This man wasn't complaining because his head injuries cause him to sometimes not be able to think of the word he wants or that he sometimes has trouble with his memory.
What this man was saying is that we need to become aware of the op… Continue

NAVY IS FAMILY

This is for all the mom's of new sailors and sailors to be!
The Navy recruiter can tell you that Navy is family but they really are. Here is an example of how. My son is leaving Thursday to meet his sub in the middle east. One of the guys flying out with him and many others on Thursday, is new to the Navy with a wife and child. The home they had rented, they found out was infested with rats in the attic. The new sailor, was able to secure Navy housing for his wife, but now has just today and tom… Continue

Submariner Moms

Would love to get in touch with other mom's of submariners. My son has been in 9 years. He loves the Navy and plans to career it. His only draw back has been finding that right woman. He thought he had and then while serving on land in Iraq, found out she wasn't the right one. Because they are out so much it is hard for him. He is quiet and not one for the bar scenes. Any suggestions other then church?

I wanted to send you a quick thank you and to let you know that they dismissed his case (although we didn't find out right away). We are relieved that the issue was resolved.

Hi! Hi! Thanks for the friend request. I'm in the Des Moines area. My son just left for BC on 8/12 - after BC he goes to Pensacola for A school. I'm kind of new to the board - still trying to figure it out.. and still trying to learn everything I can about the Navy. :)

Thank you for your well wishes, actually I’m only new to the site not being a Navy Mom. My daughter is a CTI 2 and is stationed in San Antonio, TX. She graduated boot camp in 2006 and is currently an E5. She will be going to Iraq next month for a yearlong volunteer deployment so I joined the site for a source of information. She does not know where exactly she is going only Task Force 714, we have not been able to find much information. She will be coming home sometime with in the next two weeks to bring us her little dog that she rescued from the pound. She then spends 6 days in Gulf Port getting Gear and 20 days in Ft Jackson for weapons and other training. She is expected to leave the states on September 26th.

My son Randy joined in Feb 2000. He is a submariner and just completed a volunteer tour in Iraq guarding the detainees. He just reported last week to the USS Mt. Pelier out of Norfolk. He is currently a MM2 and will be taking his E6 test this fall. He plans on making this his career. We are very proud of him and enjoy conversations our Navy stickers bring about. I hope my experience as a Navy mom and a mom who has had a soldier serving in Iraq will help others.

Hi & welcome to Navy for Mom's:)) You will find a lot of answers, support and encouragement here. My daughter, Ashley (20), has been in the Navy for 2 years and is an IT3 & my future son-in-law Tim (19) has been in since Feb 2008 stationed on the USS Nimitz. What is your son doing with the Navy? If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad you joined and look forward to hearing more about you & your Sailor. Pat
