We were told that when a recruit has A-school he has to go immediately from graduation ceremonies and register for A-school and it may take up to 5 hrs before he have any liberty.

Does anyone know anything about this.  I see that they might be able to get the entire weekend off.  We are flying from Texas so that would be great.  I guess you dont know any of this until the day of graduation or do you?

Also, how long is it from the time they get their caps until…

My son is on a carrier

I have not heard from him.  How soon can they reach us after they leave?

I sent him a care package, how soon do they receive them?  How do we know they have received them?  Help!

PIR

I attended my son's PIR this past Friday and wanted to share my experience:

First may I say that I have found the ultimate car service from this site. His name is John Spadaro but he goes by the name Sarge. He picked us up at the O'Hare airport and only charged $48 to the Ramada Inn (I hear the going rate is close to 100 bucks). He drove us around all weekend and even drove us to PIR for free. He also introduced us to the best places to eat at a reasonable price. What…

A School

If all goes well, my son will be graduating Feb 11, 2011. He just sent a letter stating that his A school (in Great Lakes) is 19 weeks rather then 9 weeks, like he thought. This left him depressed because he thought he could come home in April. Since 19 weeks is a long time does anyone know if they might get a little break in between? Appreciate any answers

A school graduation?? To go or not to go??

OK, now I don't know what to do.

For a while I was sure I'd go to my son's A school graduation.

Then, it started to seem like it was not a very big event and I wondered how son would feel about me coming.

Now, talking to hubby, he says to go if I want....I can use points for the flight and hotel. We're really being financially careful now since he started his business back up, so I do not want to be frivolous.

I wonder how many parents go to A school…

Our PIR was 1/21/11

we stayed at the Ramada in Waukegan because that's where the Meet and Greet was held.  I can not say enough good things about it.  It was clean and we were made to feel very welcomed.  They did a great job with the M&G.  Good food and lots of fun.  They seem to go out of their way for the Navy families. It's only about 4 miles from the RTC, they have a shuttle if you don't want to drive.

Good Luck to our gal

Good luck and best wishes to our daughter.  My what a bittersweet day.  We enjoyed the going away surprise party yesterday, but honestly I don't think I've had much sleep over the past few days.  I've managed to pull about 3 hours tops every night for the last week.  I lay asleep wondering what God has in store for my daughter.  She has set sail into a new chapter in her young life.  Where exactly will this chapter take her in life???…

Daughter getting leave.

So my daughter just got some liberty, she is so excited! Last port visit did not go as well as she thought. This time she actually gets to stay in a hotel for the night and take a real shower without flipflops! I do not know what she is more excited about the shower, or where she is.  The mail is running much faster than the holidays, I sent her a Valentines card and she already got it, not even two weeks.  Hickory Farms is having a 75% off sale with free shipping to any FPO/AP military… Continue
