Successful Party!

Had about 50 people show up throughout the day.  Had a surprise visit from a family friend who is a retired Chief.  He is K's mentor so it meant so much to her.  Decided to make my profile picture one of them.  Before he left, Wally (Chief) piped K "onto boot camp."  It almost made her cry.

We were off to Gulf Shores to visit the grandparents this week but K has a meeting with her Recruiting station Chief so we will pack her room and make the trip next week.

Letting go (TO: Mary )

Hi,   wow,  I guess there is alot of us in similar situations,  I too feel like we've lost our son,  before boot camp, he met this girl..with a VERY phyco manipulating, mother who literally "took" our son from us they do not want him to have a relationship with us (since we don't approve of her) and we dont approve of her because they dont want to "share" him and the GF is very promiscuios and controlling also ...he allowed it though because he thinks he's "in love"  anyway, alot of…

What ticks me off with the DEP program

What is with the DEP program? I work with deppers all the time and they talk about what their learning at their DEP meetings (marching, standing, General Orders).  To me, you really need to start with the basics, then work up from there.

What do I mean?  Why don't they talk more about the Constitution in the "pre-service education" meeting.  I mean, these sailors have sworn an oath to protect and defend it, and the Sailors Creed says we…

Anchors Aweigh...

is tomorrow.  I am making lasagna and baked ziti now and will have to do some shopping before I go to work this evening.  There should be about 50 people dropping by to say farewell to my girl.

Sunday I am going with K to my in-laws so she can see them before she leaves.  My parents were in town in early November so my dad (AT) was able to talk to Kaitlin and give her a little advice - probably the same thing my grandfather (retired Sr. Chief) told him which he then passed on…

First Day of No Contact

Okay so this is the first day I have gone with NO contact with my boyfriend since we stated dating, and WOW is it hard. Every time I hear my phone go off I want to run to it to see if its him, but then just before I take off I remember it CAN'T be from him, and that's a really hard realization. The one thought that really got me thru the day was that Caleb was going thru the first and possibly worst day at boot camp and he was doing it all for our future. When I remembered that it made me…

Lost Dep Test

My grandaugher passed her dep test at basic training in Great Lakes.  The test is not in her file, so she cannot be promoted to an E2.  Does anyone know how or where she can get a copy of her test?

First Step

I don't think really except to feel scared but i do except feeling nervous because the first time you talk to a recruiter your pretty darn nervous or at least I was, maybe its the uniform that gets ya. I've thought about the navy and finally got the guts to sign up, its the biggest decision of my life and for the first time I think its the best one so far, even if I have gone to boot camp yet but life seems to looking up already.

But I felt it necessary to…

USS Enterprise

I am not a mom, I am the daughter of a retired Navy man.  My father passed away in July of 2011 and is scheduled to be buried at sea on the Enterprise...he served aboard Her and they will make their final voyage together...I just was hoping someone out there could tell me when she is set to launch for her final deployment.  I was told by an Ombudsman that it is in March of this year, I suppose I am looking for confirmation.

If any of you have a son/daughter attached to Her, please…

Christmas with my son

I have to say I was VERY happy to see him come to Texas for Christmas. But ladies, it was just as hard to let him go back to Pensacola. I'm crying all over again. I know I should be strong for him, but it's difficult. I guess I'm just worrying too much, I feel like I'll never see him again. Moms does it ever get any easier? I have to work tomorrow & I can't stop myself from crying even now. I had to watch a video my sis-in-law made, for his going away party, in June & got myself…

I'm a sad Mom

I will not be traveling down to Louisiana. I will not be able to go over to Florida to see my sailor. I will have to wait til he comes through Missouri on his way to Virginia. But I will get to spend a whole day with him then. I am  still depressed about not being able to surprise him at the gate.... I was just looking forward to spending some time with my son, Having him all to myself. Well now I get to look forward to February. Still Sad though!!!!
