Kid in the Box

I recieved my "kid in the box" What an emotional moment...It does not help with the emotions when your not feeling to good.

I hope my son is healthy,
Does any one know if the SR's have down time if they catch the Flu? Or do they have to fight through it?

Just a MOM thought running through my head since I am not feeling good. I pray my son stays healthy the entire time.

My Son's BC Date Just Moved Up to February 2014

Okay, I'm excited, but a little nervous.  I was waiting to read all the great information on this site, so now I have to get at it. I have to admit, I'm feeling reluctant to read, because it makes his leaving so real. Here I go.

Son leaves for BC tomorrow.

My son is leaving for BC tomorrow in San Diego. I want to be prepared for all of it. It has been an emotional couple of days as all of this has finally made its way to reality. My son is 23 and left college early to pursue his passion. It's in his blood as his Great grandfather, who recently just passed away was one of the 4 last remaining Pearl Harbor survivors, as well as my father being a Korean war vet. I truly thought I would be okay, but I can't seem to stop crying. I…

Cancer. Mom

Hello I am new here and have a special kind of dilemma going on. It looks like my son will be going to RTC Great Lakes in March if things remain on track. Since my son's freshman year in high school we have been dealing with my diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer. After quite a few surgeries and some nasty chemo I was in remission for almost 5 years..yay! We moved on with our lives and my son moved onto normal college life. This year he would be considered soph with some jr credits. So while… Continue

A must read!

Father, in the coming days I will need You, but my recruit will need You more.

Let him perform his tasks with a sense of duty, not of anger or vengeance.

Let his reflexes be quick and his hands steady.

Let his head be clear and his eyes sharp.

Let his mind and body be strong and his spirit stronger.

Christ, please stand by my recruit and watch his back when he cannot.

Father, I…

When life serves you ice ... make Margaritas!

Ages ago in WWII my father in law was assigned to the USS Surprise doing recon between Greenland and Iceland.  The ship would be covered in "sea foam" which had to be cleared otherwise it would sink under the weight.  The ice shattered at the touch of a tac hammer.  During my dau's bootcamp, which was in the middle of winter, I sent her that picture as a motivational poster.  Yes, it's a cold winter this year, but nothing like what dad went through for 6 months (average temps of…

NEED HELP

My son got sent from his base in Hawaii to Sigonella, Sicily back in November. We have been able to touch base with him only once Christmas Day through the internet and have tried to send messages on Facebook. I sent him cards but he did not receive them so I am afraid to send any packages, and I feel bad that we were not able to send anything for Christmas and for his birthday. Any help anyone can give me as to where to start to find a viable address so I can send him his gifts I would…
