Meeting With Recruiters

So my daughter is now only allowed to be called "Future Sailor" by her recruiter as she is an official Depper. She gets to join our local YMCA so that she can do PT and she has to go to DEP meetings twice a month and contact her recruiter every Monday from now on. I think that this stuff will make her time go by faster. We found her a prom dress and the fact that i am working now will maybe not make getting the rest of her senior year stuff taken care of, but I will be able to do more for…

my son graduates Jan 30th div 080

Getting excited and nervous about this PIR.  Wish i knew more about the fine details to make more definite plans.  Wondering about getting a final phone call and praying that I dont miss it!  I did miss first call and was very upset!  I could tell by his voice that he was sort of sad too for the missed call.  I did get a call a couple weeks later and talked almost 20 mins.  that was the best Christmas present ever!  I think we get one more call telling us about becoming a sailor.  I hate…

Missed Calls

I woke up this morning to find two voicemails from my SR and his mom had texted me. I was so upset that I missed his calls. I then realized that my phone never actually rang. This has happened  in the past. I'm thinking about switching phone providers because the sadness in my SRs voice when I hadn't answered just about killed me and it wasn't even my fault.  Not a great way to start my day. His mom had missed his call too so that didn't help especially because it's Saturday and it's not…

Just Another Day

I didn't realize that my daughter deciding to join the military would mean I had so much to learn. I know my daughter doesn't go to RTC until the end of August, but I want to be completely prepared for what is going on from between now and then. 8 months is a long time to wait for my future sailor to leave but I don't want to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I want to be the best support system my daughter has, even if it means cracking down on her to be ready for the…

Groton

My son is in class in Groton and still loves the Navy, Groton but not the winter weather. He loved summer and fall. We plan on going up again in May. The area is just beautiful. I can't wait

Just the Beginning

So my daughter made a 52 on the ASVAB and went through MEPS yesterday and the day before. I don't think I have ever felt this many emotions all at once, I am so very proud of her, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. I have no clue what to expect next. Delaney's recruiter is coming to the house on Friday to go over her contract, she goes to RTC on August 26, 2015. I know that seems like a long time, but there is so much going on between now and then. She has Senior prom, graduation, her…

Hard Day

I didn't get to blog yesterday because I was moving into my dorm and at a hotel. I was thinking about not blogging every day but I had a rough morning. Someone in my family passed away. Not a close family member but I get sad every time someone dies. Usually my SR would notice I was down from my texting and call me. If we could, he'd demand I skype and tell him what happened. Obviously that couldn't happen today and that sucked.

After that I moved back into my dorm. I was excited…

Recruit access to Facebook

During boot camp, does a recruit ever get access to Facebook? We've had a relative pass away the day our son left and I do not want him to find out on Facebook. We are still torn as to tell him or wait until after graduation in March...
Any advice?

Normal?

I don't know if blogging every day is normal or not but I'm going to blog a lot because it helps me. I feel like here I'll get positive comments and I don't just want to write to myself in a journal and I feel like others won't understand. Sorry if my posts blow up the blog area.

I had a rough day not due to my SR leaving. My spent all day with my friend (not my plan). I came home around 8 and had to pack everything I needed to go back to college tomorrow. Move in is Sunday and…

New to This

Just like writing letters, I figured writing a blog post every day would help me get through this. Today is my SRs second day away. He shipped out 1/6 with his twin. I guess I should put here that I'm not a mom but a girlfriend. We have been doing long distance already because of me going to college. We've been apart for 6 weeks before but the lack of communication this time is going to be the hard part.

He gave me a ring, a necklace, and a Navy bear before he left and those are…

FedEx and Battle Stations

First, can recruits receive FedEx or UPS parcels?

Second, is there a list of what order our recruit's division will be going into Battle Stations?

Thanks!

worried mother

I have so many questions, but try not to ask just because I feel they are silly, but this is something I must try to find out. We got a letter from our son and he is so upset, depressed, and discusted with him self. He stated he has been real ill for the past week and a half and tried real hard not to go to medical so that he did not get set back in training but it got so bad he had no choice, he stated that the doctor did not like the way his lunges sounded and that they were going to run some… Continue

Upset Sailor

I know I haven't been on the site much, but been keeping up with everyone on face book. I need some advise but didn't want to put this on face book because I didn't want everyone on my face book profile to see this.

I have a son who just graduated from A school and is home visiting family. The girlfriend broke up with him and is now hating life. He is now regretting joining cause he thinks if he wouldn't have joined that she wouldn't have broke up with him. I honestly don't think she…
