GOPACK - WAITING

Denise (Seabee Mom), Holy Cow.  Six years without seeing him.  Guess I shouldn't whine.  Even when my youngest was in for just 4 years we were able to see him about 3 times.  The oldest hasn't extended anywhere yet so we are always able to get together when he is in transfer from one side of the world to the other.  He had been talking about staying in Japan and retiring but not sure now.  I think if I had not planned on going there it would be about 5 years before I saw him again.  The hard…

Day 7 - box day

Received "the box" today!  I wasn't as emotional as I thought I might be, maybe because my daughter was with me.  I had just picked her up from school, she had written him a letter today & was a little upset on the way home saying how she wished she could talk to him & she misses him.  Good grief they did nothing but argue & tease one another on a daily basis...but I know they love each other & would do anything for one another!  It was really a great day~~~my new little niece… Continue

Hi Navy Moms,

I am very worried about the radiation that was detected on the USS GW!!!!  Isnt this ship over 200 miles away from the reactors? My son is suposed to be leaving for Japan very soon.  From what I understand from the news and this detection of radiation levels on this ship is that it is unlikely safe for our sons to be there! What is sad is that the Japanese officials are…

Thank you for the web sites and prayers.  This isn't the first time I have not seen my son for a long period as most of his time in service has been abroad.  The hardest part now is I was so close to being therre.  I know things can change and for all the people in Japan I pray every moment it does soon.  Thank you all.

What is the best cell phone option for a deployed sailor?

My son will be completing basic training soon and then going to A school before becoming assigned to a ship.  I believe he can have a cell phone during A school and I send him his current cell phone following graduation. (for now his phone is on my plan.)

My question is for the future.... as he will want a NEW CELL phone, and his own cell phone plan.  I want to help him get it set up in his best interest.  Since he…

PROUD OF OUR SAILORS

Watching all the news coverage of the Japanese Earthquake I can't help but feel pride in our sailors who are actively providing assistance to the citizens of Japan. My one son served on the USS Ronald Reagan and I still feel a kinship to that ship, so I watch with pride and awe to see our sons and daughters work with such dedication to help others in the world when they are needed so dearly. My one son while aboard the Reagan also helped with relief supplies for the previous Tsunami disaster… Continue

so proud of my daughter

Well my daughter left on 03/06/11 and she made her one call once she got to the base. It was so said because she said she was ok but she would not be able to talk to me for 3 weeks. We talk everyday and she tells me everything. I got her bo yesterday and she put a note telling me she loves me. If you could have heard her she sounded as lost as i am . One week down 2 more to go. Please tell me this gets easier.
