My goddaughter is reporting to boot on August 14, 2013. I know from reading the blog that at boot there is material that she will have to have memorized. I’m going to list the thing that I believe she will have to know in no particular order and I would appreciate your thoughts on which items to memorize first to last (just list out by the associated number). If I have included an item that doesn’t need to be memorized, please let me know and she will remove it from her to do list. …

Just picked up my sons diitty box from FED EX. Honestly surprised I did not cry. I am so very proud of my son and about his decision to join the US Navy. But got to say, It is so hard when you have only one child and the nest is left empty !!!! Only got to hear his voice for 10 seconds to say I arrived. I hope this gets easier REAL SOON!!!! Now I just wait for the first letter with his address. Also worried due to freezing tempetures as he is use to Miami weather.

My goddaughter is reporting to boot on August 14, 2013. I know from reading the blog that the Form Letter will be mail and should be received by her parents 7 to 10 days after arrival at boot. If I sent with her a self addressed with postage on it postcard, with my address, (I’m her godfather) would she be able to mail this to me with the info needed (ship#, div#, street name and last 4 digits of the zip code) as a quicker way of being able to send her letters? Or will the Form Letter…

My goddaughter is reporting to boot on August 14, 2013. I know that she can't where any jewelry in boot, but after boot in A school can she wear birthstone stud earrings while in Navy A school? Do the rules on dress relax at all from A school on? I should add that she tested very well and is going to Nuke A school in South Carolina (I believe) after boot. Lastly what be helpful for her to learn entering into boot so as to make her boot experience less traumatic? TY in advance for the…

I'm getting depressed- and worried and I hate not knowing anything.... Thanks!

We have reached another stepping stone in our Navy life. My son graduated Navy Nuke A School on Friday 3/15/13. I am sooo very proud of him. He graduated with only 13 other Sailors. It is hard to believe that it has been 8.5 months since he left for boot camp. He has grown an extreme amount in many ways. But to be honest, our entire family has changed as well.…

I got a call from my fiance yesterday saying he had heard orders were getting changed to Korea and areas around there. He didnt know why or what all was happening and no one else seemed to know either. Does anyone know what could be going on and how big of a chance there is that his orders will get changed from states to somewhere over there?

I'm positively sure I am not the only one to feel the way I have been feeling this past week. When my son Adam was graduating high school he wasn't sure what he wanted to do. Every now and then he would mention the Navy and I would discuss the possibility with him, but he never really committed. We discussed college and he decided that the community college would be a good place for him to start. Signed up, took all of the tests and a week before it was to start he said he didn't want to…
