Tissues at the ready

My oldest son leaves on Thursday 4/3/14 and I'm already having a hard time holding back the tears. He's so excited and I'm so proud of him. It feels just like the first day of kindergarten....putting him on that bus and watching it drive away and knowing life will never be the same. He suddenly seems so mature and has worked hard to get ready for boot camp. I've been reading a lot on the website and hope that we've done all the right things so he has a smooth start. The website has been so… Continue

These past 6 months have been so bittersweet.

Proud Navy Mom

My son, Caleb, left for the Navy yesterday afternoon heading to Chicago. He made the one phone call to me and I missed it. Was very sad that I couldn't talk to him. But at least he left me a voicemail so I have that to listen to. Can anyone tell me what I should be expecting next? I know that I will be getting a box with his belongings in it :( .  Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

Another New Mom

Hi, I'm so glad I found this site. My son left for BC on March 20th. Does anyone have a SR that left the same time? I haven't received his box or letter yet. Just anxious to have some information.

One week till graduation.

A week from today my brother will be graduating. Unfortunately I will be watching from the stream bright and early at 6 am pacific. I know he's excited and looking forward for the ceremony. I'm making him his favorite snacks and one of the things he's been craving since he left for bootcamp, chocolate covered pretzels.

Boyfriend left for bootcamp on March 5th... (Ship 09 Div. 160)

I miss my future sailor like crazy!!! And things have been tough here at home.

I'm young, 20 in September to be exact. I've been with my future sailor for a year and a half. Woohoo!! Boy have things changed. I made a discussion a while ago (deleted it) about me freaking out because my boyfriend was giving me an ultimatum, and I didn't give him the reaction he wanted (I never think before acting/speaking lol). But all is settled now, and I'm going INSANE missing him! Ugh!

As for…

My son is scheduled to leave for boot camp on May 13.  During MEPS they told him that he would have to get a wart removed.  He just found out that he may have to have two to three more treatments with two to three weeks in between each treatment.  If his wart is not goine before he is suppose to leave, will his ship date be moved out or will they just not let him in?

I'm 22 years old. I live in VA and my boyfriend is stationed in MS. I just finished EMT school and I have my Nurses Aid license. We've been doing long distance for 2 years now since he left for bootcamp. I travel to see him every 2-3 months. I do t have a job right now because then seeing him would get slim and wouldn't be able to take off work. So money is tight. We plan on gettin married one day soon, but not soon enough I guess. How easy/difficult is paper work to fill out to get married at… Continue
