Hospitalman/Navy Corpsman

Can Someone tell me the difference between a Hospitalman and a Corpsman. I noticed in some press communications, there were the two different rates for different sailors.

Barbara1951 Ship 11 Division 215

I wonder if anyone can answer a question that I have. I sent my son a express mail letter next day air any idea how long it will take for it to reach him or is there a chance that it will come back to me. When I went on to the usps website it said that notice was given. I hope I didn't do the wrong thing. There was a phone card n stamps in it. I don't know if anyone was supposed to sign or not, would that make a difference as to wether he gets it.

Please help.

SO Frustrated with My Son

I am sooooooo frustrated with my son. He's in P'cola and has been since Febuary waiting to class up which probably won't be until sometime in June. He says they've added another month to the length of his class time also. The thing is, he never has any money. No idea what he does with it. He pays his cell phone bill, that's the only bill he has. I made him promise to change his direct deposit from our hometown bank to Navy Federal and open 2 accounts, savings and checking putting 75% into… Continue

Barbara1951 Ship11 Division215

Well it has now been three weeks and still no call or letters from my son Steven. It is very frustrating to not hearing anything from him. I have no idea what is happening or whether he is okay. I cry almost every day wondering to myself If and or when I will get a call or letter from him. To all you moms and wifes who have heard from your loved ones I envy you,at least you know that they are doing okay. God bless all of you.

Emergency Surgery

My son, whose "go date" is sometime in Sept. 2010, just had emergency gall bladder surgery. All went fine. Will he still qualify for enlistment? He has had no surgeries before this one and has been a healthy individual his whole life (27 years).

Any comments about this would be helpful. Thanks!

"Thank you for serving"

"Thank you for serving," probably something those serving our country hear countless times. I've been with my fiance plenty of times while he's in uniform and people come up to say "thank you." He, of course, is very nice and says "you're welcome and thank you for supporting." He's not the type that likes the attention, so occasionally he gets kind of weirded out by the way people just come up to him and usually he doesn't like it very much. And myself, I usually just smile at the people if I… Continue

birthdays and Mom's day

Wow! my son, my baby, is turning 19 tomorrow! This mom's day is such a special day, celebrating his life and the day he was born with mother's day makes it doubly special. When he was born, one day shy of a month early, he was only 5'11 ounces and lost to 5'5 ounces and was listed as failure to thrive. The cat had kittens at the same time and my son's cries were so weak poor momma cat would race to her kittens thinking they were being hurt every time my son cried. 9 years of doctors and ER's… Continue

First blog on Navy for Moms

My son is on Ship 11 Div. 212. No word at all from him yet other than the form letter. He did not sound too happy. We are looking into hotels and are not sure which airport to fly into. This is all very new to us. Its hard not having any idea what is going on with him.
