Thank you Navy Seals

Forgot to mention that when I heard about the Navy Seals mission in capturing the #1 enemy of our country, I was so proud that my son is in the Navy and that they play a huge part in keeping our country safe.  Thank you for your sacrifices  Navy Seals and all sailors and God bless you and your families!

Blue Jacket Award

I found out that my son has received the Blue Jacket Award in April.  I am so proud of him for working hard and defending his country at the same time.  He is deployed so I heard by email but hoping for pictures at some point.

All I can say to son is, Bravo Zulu!

Mother's Day was bitter sweet

My daughter will be leaving for boot camp on August 15,  I have seen some posts that have said things like "this is the last one".  Every holiday and birthday this year has been that for me.  I know that we will spend these days together again, but it wont be the same.

This year has been a world wind of emotions for me and my daughter as well. Pulling and pushing away, then pulling back together. Her gaining independence and me not wanting to give it, kind of selfish I know but I…

22 year old single mom of a 7 month old son

Right now I wanna better my life and my son's future. I'm currently a single mom and i"m thinking about joining the military. I looked into several branches and only two told my I can join as a single parent. I can either join the Navy Reserves or the National Gaurd. The Navy told me I have to have a good family care plan for my son. I talked to my dad and he told me he can help take care of him. Can anyone please give me advice I am at a crossroads right now.

Ship 7 Division 170

Today I got a call from my son James, his division was rewarded a phone call today for how well they did in a recent competition. He passed all his PT tests and now they are on to battle stations on Monday.  After that we should get a call telling us that he is a sailor.  He told us his Master Chief and Petty officer's are hard but fair.  We are looking forward to his graduation.  His dad and I our so proud of him.

Working the System...

(Written in response to a mom who wanted to know why her son wasn't getting medical leave for an illness).

Unfortunately, (name), this is one of those times we moms have to sit on our hands and bite our tongues until they bleed.  Your sailor has to be the one to ask those questions.  I agree, that from your description the rationale for keeping him on active duty is hard to deduce.

However, PARENTS can't get…

How Does One Cope?

Today is my first day to be with Navy Moms.  I have a bit of an unusual situation, and I am thankful to have a place to share.  My son has just completed his 5th week of boot camp and I am counting the days until we see him at graduation.  My son has had a sad start to boot camp and I've been so worried about him.  The day he flew out, my husband had a stroke. The next day he passed away at 50 years… Continue

We ARE the United States of America!

We ARE the Unied States of America.  The American way of life is individualistic, dynamic, pragmatic.  It affirms the supreme value and dignity of our great nation.  We are a strong, powerful nation with zero tollerance for such acts as September 11th.  We rested none since that grim day and will continue to protect this great country for eternity.  It was our duty, our mission, our American way to protect our nation, and we did just that.  This is a time to reflect on all our… Continue
