OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Graduation Notice

I was wondering how much notice is given to family that the recruit will not graduate with his class?

Ship 14, Div. 224

My son left May 22, so nice being able to go right to the gate and stay with him till he boarded. We received the box yesterday and I was surprised it was that soon. Guessing he will either be PIR either July 21 or July 28. I have hotel reservations for three different weekends! Before I know it, it'll be here, with the exception of the day after he left, this week has gone very fast....

Wow, this time next week we will be on the road heading for Great Lakes.  I can not believe that boot camp is almost over.  I am sure my SR does not feel the same way!

Looking forward to witnessing this next milestone in my son's life.  His family and friends are so proud of  him.

Light at the end of the tunnel

The hardest thing in life is to say goodbye to your child...we try to do it in baby steps starting at pre-school (oh how they cried) through high school, small trips here and there and then college.

Joining the military, however, is a completely different goodbye. It's almost like an abduction, no contact, only a quick call to confirm arrival and a box of their "proof of life" arriving, sometimes with no note.

This is tough, and feels foreign, against all parental instinct.… Continue

New to boot camp

My son left last Thursday, April 27. Feeling lost. Probably because he's our youngest and last one out of the house.
