I got THE call

I just received the call, "Mom, I am here, I am safe. I love you and I'll call you in 3-5 weeks. Love you, bye." It doesnt' seem possible that she is actually gone. I held up pretty well today. Brooklyn swore in and I cried during that part. I was so proud of her yet sad to be loosing my baby. After that I did ok. Only about lost it a couple times but I am keeping pretty busy.

It really just doesn't seem real. It is like she is off to camp or something. I know that next week…

BootCamp

Well my son Eric is off to boot camp, this I have to say was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my lifetime, letting go. I am a single mom and devoted my life to my two sons Eric 20 who just left to boot camp today, and Ryan my 15 year old. I could see the fear in his eyes and the little boy staring at me begging me to say don't go, I wanted very much to say its okay come home you don't have to go, but for the first time I did exactly the opposite, I said not going is not an options for… Continue

The letter home

We received our letter home yesterday. I was so excited even though I had to wait till I got off work to see it. My husband called me and told me it was there. That was so hard waiting the 5 hours to get home to it. Alex said she is doing "great" but that she was feeling a little sick. I guess thats normal for what they are going through. She also stated that she got a really nice pair of shoes for PT. We all laughed at that. We had an image in our minds of the big shoes that you have to shine… Continue

Delayed Entry Progra

Can anyone help me. I have a son who has passed the physical, taken the ASVAB - qualified for a job that is not available at this present time. So he asked the recruiter to get the papers ready to sign up for the DEP. The recruiter told him there is no such paper work, that they would call him when his job is available. Everything I have read on lines suggest a DEP contract up to 365 days. Please can anyone shed some light on this subject.

Thank you

And she is off....

I just took Brooklyn to the shuttle that will take her to get her medical stuff done and she will swear in and leave for boot camp tomorrow. Right now I am feeling ok as I will see her tomorrow when she swears in.

I am so proud of Brooklyn and her choice to join the Navy. She has a good head on her shoulders and I know that she will do well. I know that she has a strong faith that will be an encouragement to her during these next 2 months especially.

She has grown up so… Continue

Never thought I'd Blog!

Never thought I'd be a blogger. Christopher got into the Navy as a DEP and departed for bootcamp (Ship 03, Div 145) February 9, 2010. He graduated in April and went on to "A" School in TX to become an MAA. He's now graduated "A" School and was volun-told to go to Bahrain some of his classmates. He was supposed to have his first pick of postings, but that volun-told thing popped up. I'm hoping it means he did very…

My sailor in restriction

My daughter is in restriction for failing her urinalysis testing. She took a pain pill for her IUD severe pain and this med was not prescribed for IUD pain. She put her pain med on her form before taking the urine test and was completely honest. Now, she is in restriction and they are telling her she will be kicked out. What the hec. Redirection for former SEAL Candidate

Our son was working thought the BUDS program to become a SEAL. He scored high on ASTB tests and was in the top 1/3 of his class. He was well on his way to achieving his dream of becoming a SEAL.

During a particularly difficult workout, he experienced chest pain and was taken to medical. It was determined that he had high blood pressure and then had a series of tests that resulted in his removal from the SEAL program because of an apparent defective heart valve. Since then, it's been… Continue

Our Paths May be Different but Our Goals Are Probably Similar...

Since my son decided to enlist I like many other Navy moms have experienced a myriad of emtions. I have cried and cried, mostly in private, sometimes in sadness other times with pride, and still other times simply with the fear of the unknown. i have laughed with my son, teased him about all the cleaning he will do, the foods he WONT be eating and reminded him of how much he likes to sleep and how much I will try to sleep for him. I have read with interest how each Mom deals with the changes…

To All The Navy Dads.

Alright, we know we're on the Navy for Mom's website, and we share stories of our sailors and what they do in the Navy and how proud we are of them. With Fathers Day this Sunday I just want to know that as a wife and a mom I wouldn't have the fine young men that I have the prevlidge of calling my sons.

My sailor son wanted to join the Navy when he was eight years old and watched "Top Gun", I know my son isn't the only one who was influenced by that movie, but God had it in…
