Son wanting to join Nay

My son just turned 18 and graduated from high school. He had been all hopped up a couple of weeks back and now i feel he has lost his enthusiasm.

We live in Queens, New York and i am looking for a group of newbies that he could train with before he goes to boot camp.

He is a little overweight and i feel this is holding him back. He called his recruiter twice with no return phone call and i'm afraid he is not going to go forward.

A Son Growing Up...A Mom Letting Go...Give Them Wings

"Hey Mom, I want to join the Navy."

"You want to what, with whom, hello, why?

And with those words the roller coaster began, my life turned upside down and my little boy, my only child who I had raised by myself began to grow up. At first, all I could do was cry. He was my only son, an only grandchild. My father had given his life for our country and I thought, "Dear God, not my son." I was convinced he was making the wrong decision and he was convinced he was making the right…

Life... Both Navy and civillian

Hey N4M...my last blog was a little update on everything that has been going on with Jake and I and the Navy... Here is a little more that has been going on, and a bit of ranting as well.

First off, I would like to say that I apprciate N4M and all the support and love that everyone can find here. Though I have had a few encounters with some not so nice members, I have for the most part made it this far because of you all. So thank you!

It is 45 days until the…

leaving for boot camp.

Well today is the day Alex has been waiting for. Boot Camp. She is excited about going and getting a new adventure started. I don't think she has been at all nervous about her decision. I'm looking forward to her phone call home tonight. I sure hope I don't miss it. The one thing she commented most about were the shots they give them at MEPPS. She was not ready for them at all. Maybe she got some sleep last night in Charlotte. If I were there I would have been wired all night. Then again… Continue

auto insurance

anyone else finding this....... My insurance agent tells me, that unless my18 year old daughter relenquishes her NC driver license, she has to covered under our auto insuance policy even tho she is shipping out 7/13 and won't be residing in our home or driving our car. so what has anyone else had happen in this regard. I find it silly to pay double the insurance on someone not living in the home basically for the next 6 years.

He's off

I dropped him off at the recruiters this morning. He drove up to Spokane, and will be flying out tomorrow afternoon. I'll get "the call" sometime between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am. I cried just a little :) I'd like to thank everyone who's posted on this site. It's really made this much easier for me. I know to expect "the box" and all the paperwork to follow. Thanks again. He starts bootcamp June 15th. Anyone else's son or daughter start the same time?

Anyone connected with Uss Bonhomme Richard

Hi,

I am a spouse of a Sailor that will be joining the Uss Bonhomme Richard on Monday morning. We have been here in San Diego about 2 1/2 weeks and he will be leaving for a couple of months. I have a one year old daughter and would like to try and find a Mother's Day Out program for a couple of day a week. Is anyone familiar with any in the area. We live at the Avion at Spectrum apartments and I am not familiar with the area at all.

Are there any events or get…

I will miss the "poopie suits"

Well our Plebe, is now officially a Youngster (sophmore/3rd Class). It all happened so fast. Seems like Plebe Year came and went. Although, as another Navy Mom told her son that he replied, "You were not the one who was there". Nuff said!

I look at the growth of my son, after that one short year. I am in awe. He has mellowed and really come into his own. He confidence and maturity astounds me. His caring, empathy, and willingness to help anyone is beyond whatever I could have taught.… Continue

Thinking He's Not Really Going

So it seems to me like he's not really going to leave. Don't worry, he's still going to OCS but I think I just pretend he doesn't have to be gone during this time. Not sure I'm wanting this to happen. I like having him here and the kids like having him here. It will go by super fast though, I know it will. Then, we will be watching him graduate and we'll be even more proud of him than we already are.
