New to the site but learning something everyday!

My boyfriend Scott left on June 19th for basic. When he told me over a year ago he was considering the Navy I backed him up and supported him. When he finally decided to join and went through the process I was so proud of him, but realized how much I would miss him. We'll have been together for 3 years in July, and we spend nearly all of our time together so the last nearly two weeks have been a bit hard without him around and no contact. I can't wait to hear from him, and I plan on getting…

We never did recieve a form letter.  Was it in the same box as his belongings?  Did not see anything.  Kyle left May 22, and graduates July 20th.  I know we don't need tickets to PIR, since we are on his list, but are we missing anything else of importance?  Thanks for your responses!

Ship 03 DIV 256

My son has been gone a little over a week now and I miss him so much.. Most days I am ok but today was rough.. I am so proud of him, but I am a single mom and he is my first to leave the nest.. My husband, his dad passed away in a car accident when he was 6 and he would be so proud of his son.. I now only have my 14 year old son at home and it has been a big change for both of us..

How often do they get to call home and how often do they get to write?

Trying to get the hang of this

So, it was a week yesterday since my son entered RTC. I have been putting off blogging about my experience with this whole deal because I tend to forget to keep up with stuff like this. This week has changed my mind though and I have decided to write down my personal experiences and feelings.

Tommy is my last child, I had a difficult pregnancy with him and almost lost him. I was so blessed by his birth and being able to watch him grow into a kind, generous, smart young man. He was my…

So many questions..please help!

I joined this website so that I could get information to have some piece of mind while my SR is beginning her journey with the navy. I have kept my personal life pretty private so that I am not judged or kicked out of any groups because I do not want to lose the little piece of mind that I have left. But, lately I have been reading so many different things and I am driving myself crazy. I would like to explain my situation and if anyone can give insight I would appreciate…

HOLDING SHIP??

My daughter's first letter came today stating she had sprained her ankle and on crutches.  She is being moved to a holding ship for a few weeks and then has to start basic over.  Does not know when she will graduate now.  Does anyone know about being placed in holding and how long it might last?

My daughter left on Tuesday. Today is thursday I'm still waiting to hear from her. Hoping all the horror stories are untrue. Just want her to be strong and make it through boot camp. Man I never knew I would be so kid- sick. :((((

Got the letter today

We received the form letter today and Grant wrote both his dad and myself a personal note.  I THOUGHT I was doing okay, but here come the tears.  I am such a wuss. He did ask me to send him a better toothbrush (my dad and brother are both dentists so it's nice to know he hasn't forgotten all his early childhood training LOL). Now my question is....can I send him a toothbrush????  Looking forward to 17Aug for sure!  Ship 03 Div 253. Anyone else have someone in this ship/division?

Ship 3 DIV 246 - Which address? I'm in a panic....

I received a letter from my son today finally! It was the best piece of mail I think I have ever received. I'm in a panic though because when I got his form letter I was given the address:

SR Last Name, First Name, MI

Ship 03 DIV 246

Recruit Training Command

3600 Ohio Street

Great Lakes, IL 60088-3156

In Timmothy's letter he said he won't get mail unless I write the address EXACTLY as he wrote it on the envelope. The address is a…

after "A" school?

Im just curious, but what happens after "a" school? My SR will graduate boot camp on July 13th and then go to "a" school in Great Lakes. She said school is only four weeks long? How long will it actually take to begin classes and after school what happens? Thanks for any information.

And...he's gone

What an emotional day!

I worked for 2 hours, then picked Blake up and took him to the recruiter's.  He left for St. Louis around noon, he should be relaxing in the hotel by now.  He'll do MEPS tomorrow and be driven to Great Lakes.  He thought he was flying, but now gets to endure a lovely 6 hour drive.  Not sure how many others will be with him, but he'll have to make the best of it.

I've she some tears, but still have such pride and admiration for the path…

Letter Day Today!!!

I finally got my letter from Sean. I'm so happy he's doing so well and hearing that he misses me as much as I do him. He says his RDC is relaxed. He likes the other Recruits. I'm surprised because he wasn't the best people person lol!!! I'm glad he's found people. He passed his PFA 21 passed from his division out of 73. Since he passed he'll be E-2 now! I'm so proud of him. Of course hearing him say how much he misses me and loves me is reassuring.

Of course when I see him he'll…

My Son, My Sailor, My Hero!!

My son's PIR was 6-15-12. I was so proud sitting in the stands watching him perform with the band. As impressive as the PIR was I couldn't wait for it to be over, until I could actually stand face to face with my son, my sailor!! The new sailors were dismissed and the mad dash to find loved ones began. Standing in a sea of white…

Received My "Sailor in a Box"!!!

Hi everyone, my son left for BC on June 20th and exactly a week later, I came home and saw a brown box on my front porch. I couldn't believe how excited I was to see a brown box!! Anyway, all his stuff was in there and he also wrote a quick note saying he arrived, that he loved us and that his cellphone was shoved inside his shoe!! Now, just waiting for the form letter. Have a good day!

Need some info please!!

I received "the box" yesterday.  Only thing in it were his clothes and the packet of papers concerning his recruitment/swearing in/etc.  His recruiter called me last Sunday and gave me an address for Grant, he is Ship 3/Div 253 and the address she gave me is different than that on the Fed Ex label.  Which address do I use to write?  He left June 20 and haven't heard from him since the 1 minute call I got the night he reached RTC.
