6 Days!!!

I myself am leaving for the Navy next week. I will be at MEPS on Tuesday, and Wednesday I'll be at RTC. I am 18 years old and just graduated high school. I decided to join back in January, so that's just what I did :) At first, my dad didn't really know enough about the military and would've rather seen me go to college instead. Me being the youngest of 4 and the baby girl, my mom wasn't too thrilled. I am the first of all my siblings to decide to join the military. I am also the first of all… Continue

discussion tab

I just received an e-mail concerning the "Discussion" tab. This is a place where we can go and add our name to our state in case a sailor is in need of assistance .. I would love to be a part of this, my son is in Conn. in A school and I would love to have someone there for him if he was in trouble. However, I cannot find this site. How do I join, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you, Tracey

Boot camp questions

Hi, my daughter decided to join the Navy. As her mom, I encouraged this decision and am proud of her. I was wondering, though, what is boot camp like? Can anyone tell me what the experience was like for your son/daughter? Would really appreciate it. Thanks so much and look forward to your posts.:)

Hello moms

My Son Victor has been in Boot Camp since June 23 and I have yet to receive a letter and/or a phone call.

He is my only child, my best friend, and my most favorite person in this world. We grew up together as I had him at 16 years of age. I miss him soooo much. I miss our Sunday talks when he tells me every thing he and his friends did that weekend (sometimes it was crazy talk but atleast we were talking).

He will go on to Pensacola Florida after his basic training in August,…

student loan forgiveness

I have read that once a recruit signs a contract, the Navy "forgives" his Federal Stafford loans. My sons recruiter is not mentioning this. Can anyone direct us to the proper guidance on student loans. My son has graduated with a BS in Marine Science and has over $40,000 in loans. He needs help.

The waiting...

Yesterday, the 4th of July, I went to the grocery store to pick up some much needed items - I haven't gone REALLY grocery shopping since Dylan left... hence I had a pretty full basket... All the while, my cell phone was never out of sight - I just knew they would let him call for the Fourth... ha ha

Anyway, I was almost done with the necessities and on to the meal planning when it hit me.... I was…

I just want to thank everybody for their input, you guys just don't know, well you do know. How hard it is, ecspecally for me, since I never had to deal wit anything like this. All I do is write and write, I wrote 10 cards this weekend, and yet I have to cry "sorry don't like…

Thanks for quick reply.

The comments where all really helpfull, yet I do believe she should have gotten at least 3 of my letters since they were send Priority. So slow is fine, but lazy is not. Especially which what was said in the last letter. She needs to know that I am writting. Sending a FedEx on Monday. At least then I know it is there since they have to sign for it. Then we shall see how long it will take, from Desk to Her.

Thanks again....

2nd Letter

Well I just received my second letter home. Alex sounded really happy but didn't have much time to write. Said she had alot she had to get done. She passed her swin quals and was glad about that. She hasn't received any mail from us yet and she probably feels like we just left her hanging. Trust me this is not the case. I have written letters everyday since she left. When they finally make it to her she's going to have a book to read. I'm so proud of her and I love and miss her very much. I… Continue

OMG He's doing okay

Well, I have to say that I was relieved to here from my son so soon, but I recieved my son in a box (morbid I know but again keep a sense of humor) I first smelled his shirt just as I did when he was a baby I love the smell. I know I am kinda weird but its normal I am told. Nothing but just clothes. One day later I recieved a blurb of a letter 2 lines which were the best 2 lines I have ever read in my life. He was doing well and was very excited about the division he was in, that he the family… Continue

No darling, the tears dont ever stop. They just come for different reasons...

Dear N4M,

On March 15th, my fiance (then boyfriend) left for Great Lakes. Of course I cried, I missed him. I felt helpless, lost and betrayed. I cried off and on for those 2 months.

On May 7th, he PIR'ed and I cried tears of happiness. I was in his arms again and couldn't be more happy.

On May 9th, he proposed. Again, the tears of happiness. Bliss.

On May 9th, we dropped him back off at RTC and I cried tears of hurt, longing,…

Letter #1 Arrived - Ship 12 Div 267 PIR 08/06

I received my first letter today. My son is very upbeat and excited. He's anxiously awaiting his cart inspection because he says "I look good in the uniform". It was such a relief to hear from him because now I know that he is okay. He says h. hasn't gotten a lot of sleep but that's okay...nothing he can't handle. He's pumped for graduation and so am I .

Just got my second letter.

Just wanted everybody to know that I am not a Navy Mom, but a Navy boyfriend. My girlfriend left June 14 to go up to Chicago erea, she is in Division 269. She is doing very well which is good. I do have a question, and I hope somebody on here might be able to help me. She wrote that she did not get a lot of letters from me, pretty much saying, that I should write everyday. Which I have been doing. So my question is, is the mail service just slow, or do they withhold mail, until a certain date?… Continue
